Can my stage 2 ss/sc beat my bosses automatic stock 94' or so z28?

the thread title is pretty self explanatory but yeah... i just got my stage 2 installed today and i found out that yesterday as i saw my boss at my gf's work i told him i was getting my stage 2 installed today, and i found out that as soon as i was out of earshot he said to his wife "its still just a cobalt". (my gf's boss is my boss's wife so thats how i found out cause those girls gossip so bad) So when his wife told my girl she said "isnt that funny? ed(my boss) just said that cause he knows he can beat greg's(me) car in a heartbeat" yeah so my question is to all of you, can i try to get to race him, possibly for money to sweeten the deal, or is it a bad idea? P.S. he might be running 87 octance cause he's cheap but if we race for money i'm sure he'd put in some premium or super premium. BTW its a camaro with the LT1 4speed auto i believe and idk i think i can take it if i dont mess up a shift.

At the 1/4 mile with a good launch then yes you should. You have to ge tthe launch down though.

Well if its auto then it'll be easier.

From a role you will win. From a Dig it will be a drivers race. Most V8 guys don't think that the cobalt is that quick because they can only remember when 4 banners were slow as hell. Little do they know know with stage 2 we can run vary low 14s to height 13s and from a role the advantage goes to us.

I wouldn't put any money on it. A '94 Z28 should be able to run high 13's, no problem, even auto. You better do damn good.

I have had two LT1 F-Bodies, in the 1/4 it will be close the first 1/8 but the SS/SC would pull a bit the last half.

As for roll racing from a low mph start the LT1 has a slight advantage but the SS/SC will reel it in and win. From a high mph roll it's all SS/SC.

Ok I do not understand why I see so many "Can or Will my car beat so and so." RACE THEM if you want to find out. If you lose you lose. Who cares, thats part of racing.

A good driver and a better launch(slicks) should get mid-high 13's but many will get 14 flats and around there do to lack of experience.

Stage 2 you would eat him alive from a roll. Sorry, from a roll our cars feel like 13 second cars, having stage 2 will just make it that much worse. Also if hes stock auto that 5.7 14.2 is for a stick, and when it was in its prime which I doubt it is 12 years later.

I had a 95 z28 that I bought new. I think the SS/SC would give it a good run. My son had a trans am 6 speed and was just barely under 14 secs.

wow good feedback so far! thanks! i think i'm going to take smack to him at work tomorrow and so forth to get him to try and race, i just have to get used to driving the slobalt with the stage 2, i only got a few hours of quality driving time so far. I think if i dont bring up money he might not try putting in quality premium gas in his stock 10.5:1 compression or so engine. i think i might go driving some more if its nicer out. but yeah keep it comming! thanks again!

Putting in higher octane gas isn't going to help him. The LT1 runs 87 octane.

If he's an auto and has the 2.73 rear end, he's about a second slower in the 1/4 than a stick Z28 of the same year. If he has the 3.23 rear end, he'll be about half a second slower than a stick.

I'd say with stage two, you'll eat him unless you miss a shift.

my brother has a z28 94 with auto and 3.23 and when it was stock he ran a 14.0 at 99 with a 5.6 0-60. So if he has 3.23's he should get you off the line but you should have him by 70. And if he's using 87 octane his car will suck ass cause my borther's was a dog with that in it. Either way you should win

It will be close. VERY close. I say this only if you don't run a 14.5 again

Nice meeting you by the way.

yeah no more 14.5 now that i got my stage 2, unless of course i miss a shift or something hah... and to the others i doubt i will get the chance to race him from a roll b/c yeah he is oldish and shaves his head so nobody knows he has grey hair, (sorry A.D.D. + gossip from gf moment) but yeah i dont want it to sound like i'm making boundries and rules to my boss. though of course racing from a roll would be amazing. cause my chances would be a lot better. I just want to beat him after his ******* comment.

My lt1 TA convertible ran 13.9 @98 stock in great weather. So I think with your stage 2 you'll take him out. My bud has a 93 ta with some mods and from 65-140 I put one car length on him in my cobalt. I have 3" pulley magnaflow catback and a k&n intake. So with stage 2 I'm sure you will win. Maybe not by alot but you'll get the win for sure.

P.S. don' t miss a shift LOL'
