The Tesla roadster (fully electric) has a top speed of 125mph as well (limited) because at that speed the motor is spinning 13000 to 15000 rpm. However it goes 0-60 in just 3.9 seconds.. Beat that prius. Im still wondering why we are futzing around with the current design hybrids. Lets use the same example Deisel electric hybrid railroad engines have used for quite some time now. Say the 2500HD with the duramax diesel - why not use that powerful engine to power the electric motor only?
