power to weight ratio, i'm betting this is y it has a 125 mph top speed. there should be no reason to limit it... this car = phail.

the lnf just powers the alternator to recharge the lithium ion batteries... this is my guess

wait a minute. it is cooler then a prius and is part chevy dont hate people plus it looks good for a sedan

that doesnt excuse the price tag.

or the 125mph limit... if i'm paying 80g's for a "sports car electric hybrid thing" it damn well better go faster than a ford taurus lol

This car has been around for a while now in just renderings, it needs the LNF motor to save on weight over a big V8. I think it's a pretty decent looking hybrid car that I would use no gas with on my daily commute because I never go farther than 50 a day...but it's also about 40K more than I'd ever want to pay for one, lol.

It seems cool until you read that the LNF only powers the generator to supply power to the electric motors. What a waste of an engine. Could have had a Geo Metro 3 cylinder do the same and leave the spoils to us.

Thats basically it in a nutshell. Electric motors can be designed to spin considerably faster than conventional engines, but with only 1 gear.. The Tesla roadster (fully electric) has a top speed of 125mph as well (limited) because at that speed the motor is spinning 13000 to 15000 rpm. However it goes 0-60 in just 3.9 seconds.. Beat that prius.

Im still wondering why we are futzing around with the current design hybrids. Lets use the same example Deisel electric hybrid railroad engines have used for quite some time now. Say the 2500HD with the duramax diesel - why not use that powerful engine to power the electric motor only?

I'd buy that car if it used the LNF motor in a typical RWD configuration like the Sky or Solstice. And of course it would have to cost <$30k.

the tesla roadster has a 2 speed tranny, as will the chevy volt. they dont need as many gears because they have peak torque at all RPMs, so you dont need to try and keep your car in the torque band...the whole range is the torque band.

You know the batteries probably cost about 20-30 thousand.

Proof (battery cost in a tesla roadster, I know it's not the fisker but close enough..):

The other surprise is a pre-paid battery replacement deal. The current cost of replacing the Roadster battery pack is $30,000!

They noted that the 2 speed had too many issues so they went back to a single gear:

Pretty cool-shows what can be done in that direction. Seems like they could do more with 960 ft/lbs. though, lol
