Cobalt LNF Turbo Upgrade Update – July 20th

Cobalt LNF Turbo Upgrade Update – July 20th

So without further ado, we have received the first official dyno numbers and we thought you guys would love to have this update. The official numbers for the Cobalt SS LNF Turbo upgrade Stage 1 kit will stand at 280hp and 320lb.-ft of torque. That’s right, this ain’t no weaksauce kit. That’s an increase of over 60lb.-ft of torque! For you math geeks, that equals out to a 23% increase in torque. A quick search of the interwebs was conducted upon receiving these numbers and we couldn’t find one factory or aftermarket company that can deliver those kinds of numbers with JUST a tune. Add to that the full factory backing from GM and if this isn’t a no brainer modification then cover me in honey and send me off to the farm.

Good find buddy.... that puts it right up there with Superchips and Trifecta! Could have been stronger, but they have to warranty them so I understand the safeness of it!

also.....in the link....on the dyno........something is wrong.

The WHP SAYS 280 @ 5100RPMS. If you look at it, thats NOT where it is. The graph shows the 280 at like 4700 or 4800 RPMS.

I don't like that the HP AND TQ peak and then drop off so early in that graph.

Yeah, they adjusted the DAL's too quickly so it gets a quick peak but drops off quickly... you have to draw the boost in slower with a higher max to keep the power band more linear or as linear as you can with a small turbo

So a stock SS/TC makes 260WHP stock? Do you know anything about cars?

If thats a dyno graph then why is the cobalt making the same numbers it makes AT THE CRANK FROM THE FACTORY.

Damn you guys are gullible as hell.

Thats where my mind is at. Hell.....peak too quick and you're not even up to SPEED yet and you gotta shift???? Me no rikey! Sure you got there QUICK....but without speed it will hurt IMO

From one street light to another....okay. IMO that is peaking too soon for like the 1/4 mile. You would HAVE to go into 4th gear before the traps as you'd get through 1st and 2nd way too quick. IMO

Stay in em too long your dropping off your power too long.

Guy's we are excited to be able to bring you this update. GM is energized and working hard on it. The more info we get - you can bet you will be the first to know.

One thing to add here, we just heard from them and the numbers you are seeing on this sheet are said to be Wheel HP numbers - EVEN BETTER HUH?

Enjoy - and please continue to leave feedback here - it is making a difference!

I've learned some tricks to keeping this issue from happening... I can keep my map KPa pretty damn consistant throughout my powerband...

Peaks at 250kpa and drops to and holds around 240~

Do you not understand that a stock SS/TC makes around 235 to 240 ON A DYNO IN STOCK FORM.

Have you ever heard of an engine dyno? Or did your daddy by you your first car and it happened to be a Turbo Cobalt?

Some of you guys dont know much.

If they want that graph to be more believable to be WHP numbers then why isnt the stock run around 235 to 240 WHP why is it @ the factory rated 260.

We all know a stock SS/TC on a legit dynojet will not make 260WHP on 15lbs bone stock.

I know basics man....not sure how to tune and I don't pretend to but that dyno just does not look right to me. LOL Define DYNO

Good point. Can you say no smoothing? Can you say uncorrected?

JK guys....all in fun. People always second guess info/numbers. I thought I'd help out.

Lolz kiddo... Yes I actually have heard of an engine dyno... but I seriously doubt this test minus your lack of reading skills shows and states... DYNO, and WHEEL HP in 2 different areas.

Apparently your daddy forgot to send you to school!

not all dynos are wheel dynos.

furthermore:
UPDATE 2: The LNF kit and all GM horsepower ratings are crank horsepower.

the numbers are pretty good for a GM tune, but they still wont compare to a legitimate aftermarket tune

This is about what I expected. Mild hp bump with a fatter torque curve in the midrange. Intake design still limits the top end. I see something like 295-300 / 325-330 for "Stage 2".

LOL, Thats why your sig says something different.

You were probably on a very forgiving dyno.

I will put my TC on a dyno here soon. The same dyno that an LS2 GTO 6M made 318 WHP bone stock. I have my money on the cobalt making in beween 220-230WHP.
