Center caps fell off ... anyone?

I went out tonight and a couple people came out to look at my car and they noticed that 2 of my center caps were missing. At first i thought that they had been stolen, but when i got back to my house, there was one of them in the driveway and the other one was still missing. I know i haven't hit anything to make them come off, so i was just wondering if anyone has an explaination of why this would happen and if it has happened to anyone else?

welcome to the world of 2.4... was less than 1500 miles on mine when the same one fell out twice. recovered it once, the other time i was not so fortunate. cost 18 bucks and isnt covered under warantee even though its obviously a manufacturer defect since a lot of 2.4's have the problem

If the dealer won't replace them... try www.gmpartsdirect.com it's part number 9595100
and costs like $9 US.

I went down there first thing this morning and made the guy take some off another Cobalt. You just gotta be stern with them. Also, the center caps are pieces of junk, made out of really poor quality material. Its like really thing aluminum or something.

The center caps are aluminum coated plastic.

Don't worry, they are coming sometime in the future. I just paid my car off with cash $15,100 (out the door), so im just trying to build the funds back up to a comfortable level ... then the rims go on.

I like my rims, it'd be cool if they were bigger but I wanted them to be track-friendly. They definitely look good on our cars, they just need some lowering to complete the look

I want to see if i can get metal center caps for my stock rims instead of the flimsy ones that come with them. Does anyone know if metal ones exist?

unless you did something custom im pretty sure they're just plastic. but i dont think you'd have any advantage with metal and it'l just be adding more weight to your wheels and i'd doubt it'd hold any better
