What did you pay...

I want a switchblade metallic, fully loaded SS coupe. I have one literally across the street from me with everything I want but the MID or UAF or whatever reconfig display. Ive found 2 with the config, but with a low rise within a 100 mile radius. A wing is a 4 bolt swap. The addition of the LCD is God knows how much cause no dealer can tell me. The dealer said they "Might" be able to porter it.

The bottom line in dollars comes to 360 a month @ 0% for 60 months. I have a cash for clunkers 99 Explorer. Unfortunately the trans JUST let go Thursday, but I can drive/limp it to the dealer and the stipulation is "Driveable". I mean hell, they have to crush-scrap it for the stimulus. I can drive it there.

The numbers are as follows.

23,900 car
1673.00 tax
195.00 doc
7.50 tire fee (NJ)
354.00 Motor Vehicle (Should be 290.00, this is an over shoot to cover).
26,129.50 - 4500 for my clunker
21629.5 is the sale price.

Just want to see what others paid for their TC's. In the NJ area its slim pickings and most dealers arent willing to haggle on cars that have been sitting since 08.

And I did a search for what people paid and nothnig showed specifics to a new car purchase. Paid is a broad term.

Just got my '08 with 19500 miles on it for 18250.... how did you get 18700 for a brand new car?!?

I went off of Edmunds.com, 17900 recommended, but I threw in a bit for good customer service; props to Chapman Chevy in Phoenix!

So far car has been cursed: parking ticket first night I got it (I parked my other car 8 months the same way and nver got a ticket, thank you high wing!), sunroof literally blew up second day I had it accelerating onto an on-ramp, no cars or debris..it was freakin scary, sounded like a gunshot! They replaced it under warranty; it wass frwakin torture not having my brand new used car (u know what I mean) for 3 days after having it for 2, what a tease!!!

Im in Old Bridge. 21,800 would work. I didnt get the car yet but I want to pull the trigger in a few days. 21.8 would make me do back flips and sign if they could swap the car I want to their dealship. I know they are all about referrals.

Your numbers aren't too shabby... Mine was 24500 out the door (no trade in, no incentives, no rebates, no gov't program - gm supplier pricing)....

As for the RPD - No they can't install one (there was a guy on here that tried and nothing became of it)... they come from the factory with one or else you can't get it... not sure if the car you listed is an 08 or 09, but I know for certain that you can't install one in a '08...

The wing isn't a big deal... takes about an hour the first time to swap (you have to be careful getting through the adhesive) and then 4 bolts/little adhesive tape - and you are done. I actually have both wings so that I can go back and forth when I wish - not a bad investment if you can't decide which option you like....

As for your monthly payments - they really aren't that bad. If you like this car then pull the trigger. You really aren't getting screwed here. You can try to shop around but these cars are getting harder to find - and what I have been seeing lately are used ones that are springing up because people couldn't afford them....

Btw - if it is an 08 then make sure it isn't a 'wind-damage' special.... Dealers have been known to try to sell those without disclosing their condition...

I would take the 2000.00 rebate over the 0 % if you can get a decent rate on your own.

Damn, I'd love to pay $360 a month for a TC.

I'm still paying $330/mo. for my SC.

Thumbs down

Well it looks like Ill hopefully have my SS tonight, or tomorrow. Theyre having issues getting the one I want from N NJ to my local dealer here.

On a side note, the other day I saw a black SS in Old Bridge NJ with a CobaltSS sticker on the window.

It was around 24k after GM Employee discount, and after all the taxes, title, plate fees, etc.

I'm not sure we got a good as much as we got what they were really worth.

Look at the value of a used 08. If you pay full price up front you are getting screwed.

that's how the used market works....especially for sports cars like this....

a brand new car loses 10-15% of its value once you drive it off the lot.....that's the standard...now take into consideration: turbo coupe, gm, car appeals to the younger market, will most likely be driven hard on.....

I can imagine this car being a collectible in 20 years time though....same thing goes for a bunch of the pontiac's...the g6's are quick, and the g8's set some standards....

edit- I'd still like to see what rebates and trade ins people have with these deals they got.

Bought mine last November, final price of the car was $16,900; out the door was a shade under $19k after TTL and an extended warranty (yeah, I know.... )

"Negotiation" was some e-mails between me and the dealer's internet sales manager, there were 2 GM rebates involved, plus $3500 from my GM card, plus another $500 from the Illinois Farm Bureau. The last two rebates weren't brought to the table until the final round at the dealer's. No trade-in.

The process started on a Monday morning. I went to drive the car the following Saturday morning and had the new toy in the garage that afternoon.

17,500 had a Chapman rebate, chevy rebate, auto show discount, some other local rebates. They wanted 18,500, but I talked down to 17,500 from a sticker of 25,800 very easily.

I then put 2k down and financed the rest.

Well, looks like Im not going to get it at all. Im hellbent on the Silver and there are only 2 avail that have the options I want. The dealer I was dealing with wasnt willing to give the dealer that had my car a car that he wanted (Equinox). On top of that, the price kept climbing on the car because they had to go get it. Seeing the prices some of you guys got, and the 25K the dealer wants, I basically thanked him for wasting my time and left (Long ass story behind this all but Ill save it).

Given the fact my wife is ready to give birth to our daughter anyday, ive decided on a CSRT4. Slower than the SS, but the 4 doors seems a little more practical and theres a good aftermarket for the CSRT4. I thank you guys for your input and help.
