CF hood fading/haziness

Just got a CF hood from a buddy and it has lots of faded spots on it. I've heard this is common, but what can be done to correct this? I just tried wetsanding it and it didn't do a whole lot. Is it the CF that fades or does the clear just become hazy?

Bump... Anyone?

You can't get rid of it. I believe it is the carbon fiber itself changing colors, not the clear coat.

It could be either. Post up some pics so we can get a better look at what you are talking about. One of the most common things is for them to turn a yellowish color. This can usually be fixed by wet sanding the hood down threw a couple of the clear coats and then reapply several quality clear coats. A lot of the cheaper hoods use cheap clear which doesnt protect against UV and will turn colors. A good preventive measure for cf hoods is to wax them often to help protect them from the elements.

If the CF itself has faded I don't think there is much that can be done to correct the damage.

Thanks guys, yeah I went through a couple layers of the clear but it looks like it's the fiber itself that is faded... ohh well, it's better than the rock chipped stock hood
