Shifting Advice

I really notice a lack of power in the 2000-2500RPM range of my '05 SS\SC.

For example, when I'm making a rolling turn; I shift into second, the car coasts with the RPM around 2000 without engine braking, and when I go to punch it......nothing. It takes a few seconds for the RPMs to increase and actually feel some power and acceleration. It feels like a hesitation.

Should I be rev matching into first in this situation?? If so, has anyone even ever gotten the hang of that? Because first is a b*%&h.

If your going to make a turn in second you want to make sure your rpms are about 3k or close. Other wise you'll bog a little bit. If your going to slow down that much for the turn you should definatley rev match to first. Its just mad hard controlling first, especially if the turn has any bumps. Just practice.

Going into first will only make you spin, staying in second is way to low in the power band. IDK take the turn faster

With some really good foot control you can do it in first, but most people will spin. I have to agree, my solution has always been take the turn faster. Haha maybe you just need some suspension mods.

Thanks guys, just making sure the bog is 'normal'.

Yep, faster turn would definitely be a solution.

Rev matching into first just to take a turn just causes additional wear and stress for no good reason. Stick to 2nd in your turns, try maintaining very minimal gas during the turn just to have the supercharger spinning towards positive boost, and roll into the gas coming out, rather than coasting and then punching the gas.

You have to take it the turn fast in second or slow in first to keep the rpms near 3k. How far are you from RT 1 in NJ?

I'm about 40 minutes from RT. 1 and 9 in Newark. But probably a little less than that now that I have the cobalt.

Why do you ask?

The Cobalt isn't a V8 equipped car... so it obviously won't have much of a low end around 2000RPM. Keep it in the higher RPMs whenever you are driving a 4Cyl vehicle... that is where the power is.
