While sitting in church on easter.. my mind wandered to this idea.. go figure..

It isn't a real supercharger seeing as there is no belt and it's not constant. The regular intake will be used until the NAWWWWZ button gets pressed. To add more liquid fuel in, I want to control the governor somehow too.
After that works.. I smell dry shot. :cool:
Do you think it would work at all?

italstalnprd86 04-25-2006, 07:37 PM buy a small turbo for it.... you can get them dirt cheap off ebay, i have seen them, something that runs like 2-3 psi should work..... let me think of what size.... i will repost in a few

b-spot 04-25-2006, 08:31 PM The compressed air won't work, the volume of air that tank holds will be consumed in one or two strokes of the engine, not to mention a bunch of other factors.
italstalnprd86 04-25-2006, 08:42 PM i was going to say that too.... you could use it like nitrous to spool that turbo up though.... i have no idea how many psi it is, but it cannot be over like 3, im pretty sure a 5 hp motor could run it, and depending on the rpms of the go cart, most of the time you are going pretty quick anyway, ony thing you would have to do is figure out a way for it to get oil, but strapping a small K&N on the inlet would be sweet, if it is a 4 stroke motor oil is no problem, but if it is a 2 stroke, you would have to run a seperate oil tank type deal, no need for an innercooler though.... if i had a go kart i would totally try it out....

Isn't the TD04H the turbo on the 4G63T's??

Chevypowered 05-27-2006, 01:02 PM Don't forget that running compressed air through a carberator does not work since the fuel is pulled in by the vacuum which would be non existant under pressure. Unless yours is fuel injected or has a S/C after the carb it won't work.

the supercharger for an RC is before the carb. there are blow through carbs that exhist, but they are basically a very crude form of fuel injection... to make it work, what you'd need to do is have an electric fuel pump that feeds to a CIS injector (fuel injector off of an old BMW or VW basically, it's springloaded and only opens once the fuel hits a certain pressure) a pressure gauge and a regulator that allows you to adjust it correctly. at THAT point, you'd be better off using a tank full of nitrous oxide. probably be safer.
p.s. it is a supercharger. any device that forces more than the normal amount of air into an engine is a supercharger.

for a go-kart i don't think that's a good idea. they don't have a pressurized fuel system. so i think (i could be wrong) that it wouldn't get enough fuel to start easily.
At the last shop I worked we had a 15hp 2 cylinder engine off of some industrial parts washer and rigged up a small turbo to it. Fuel management was a definite issue, my idea was to pressurize the fuel tank with manifold pressure and use a fogger nozzle with some custom drilled out jets for extra fuel. Then again you might get away with just pressurizing the tank, it'd dump more fuel obviously but I'm not sure the carb would atomize correctly. We never got it to work but it hauled ass naturally aspirated:)
That turbo listed supports over 250hp, probably a little overkill for a Briggs and Stratton:)

Yes it does work actually. I did it on my lawn mower when I was working on it once. I picked up the compressed air hose and blew it into the carb from about 3 inches. It definately works as it just pulls more fuel through the line. I have had this idea for a LONG time but just never had the chance to do it.
