How is the Cobalt oil cooled? Or is it? Is it possible to put an aftermarket oil cooler on with a thermostatic control?

im almost positive the 2.2/2.4 doesnt have an oil cooler (its that triangular thing under the TB area, right? If it is, then no, the 2.2 doesnt have one)

taking the general consensus is that the 2.2 does not have an oil cooler, what are the options for having one? aftermarket? OEM? how do the other cool the oil? water/air? air/air? are they thermostatically controlled?

The 2.2 does not come with an oil cooler, therefore there is no OEM cooler available, otherwise it would have come with one... The only cooling thats provided is by the bottom of the oil pan.

a way to have your oil cooled...
-m12x1.75" male to 1/8npt female adapter from autometer
- ~4ft of stainless lines
-a universal oil cooler
-a 90* elbow to return the oil into your oil cap
that method give u a uncontroled oil cooling system, meaning no thermostat to control when the oil is cooled, pros is cooler oil, cons is takes longer to warm up...feed the oil from the block gallery ports into the front of the car where u can have your oil cooler, than from the cooler run a line to return the oil to the oil filler cap...this way should u have to remove the system, u only place the gallery plug back, and replace a cap, vs dirlling and changnig oil pans etc etc
or you can return into the oil dipstick, but than u loose function of your dipstick...the oil pressure from the engine is enought to push the oil thru the lines and back into the engine...

and hwo much more oil would be needed?
ex, why would it not make sense to add an oil cooling setup to a 2.2 with the m62 setup if the 2.0 with the same has one?

car yes, engine no. engine is a lot different.
i'm not saying don't put it on there. but its just gonna be a waste of money

so the timing, cams, intake ports, exhaust ports, vavles, springs, crank, rods, pistons, stroke, bore, transmission, ring tolerances, compression ratio, torque specs, and over all design are the same??? hmmm...insteresting.
the 2.0 is basically a destroked 2.2 with a blower and some other minor diff
they are basically the same hahaha, i never said exactly, but most of it is the same yes
this is why they shair the same service manual engine wise and just have diff in them, and why you can bolt parts from one to the other
it is about 85-90% the same engine...

i didn't say timing chain, i said timing. as in stock. and sorry i laughed out loud when you said "cams (except for grind)" because...that defines what a cam is. so saying that two cams are identical except for the grind is like saying an apple and an organge are the same because theyre fruits, but everything else is different. and the only parts you can swap and "bolt on" are the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and other misc parts like alternators and **** that have nothing to do with the engines performance.

you can also swap across intake cams...exhaust you cant only becase of the power steering off the end) the full SC kit, engine mounts, all other valve train, head gaskets are the same, seals and such are all the same, all of the timing components, cam gears, oil pans can be swapped across, pullies can be swapped (except the diff # of ribs on them). the timing isnt the same because it CANT be, that would be like saying the 2.2 and a boosted 2.2 isnt the same engine cause the timing isnt the same
hey if the kid wants to put an oil cooler on an otherwise stock LT. go for it. but when it does nothing for him. then i don't want to see a "this mod did **** for me" thread. the 2.2 doesn't have an oil cooler cause it doesn't need an oil cooler, putting one on there is a waste of time and money.
