You don't have to hold the ignition key when starting the car. You just bump the key and let go. It just keeps turning the starter until the motor fires up. I found that out today when my greasy fingers slipped off the key. This is probably something only I didn't know.

I saw it in the manual. It's pretty neat. It will crank for 15 seconds and then stop if it doesn't start. I had a junk battery and found that way also. Dealer replaced the battery of course.

I've got a Chrysler rental for work this week. Done it twice since Monday. Had a 2010 Camaro and an HHR before this and they do it as well.

Yep... My Jeep takes much longer to turn over, and I've done it more than a few times to that...

This is the first GM product I've owned since 1992.

Yes...and on all newer gen GM starters, the starter is electronically dissengaged once the motor is running...keeps you from grinding starter motor gear

Newer Ducatis are like this as well, took me awhile to get accustomed to it. The Cobalt has yet to do anything other than all but instantaneously bust off but the Hyper will sit there and crank for a bit all by itself at times leaving me sitting there going humm?. It'll finally time out and quit if things are not to it's liking. dww
