I'm frightened at how heavy an SS vert would be. Over 4k lbs.

Weight does matter, but you can always make up for it. Trust me on that, Typhoons and Syclones were always heavy. We only have V6's and still manage to run 8s and 9s on street legal setups.

When I first saw the Camaro vert pics I was thinking about the feasibilty of a hardtop. Obviously very difficult to implement here. Next year's Mustang with the EcoBoost is going to be a superior vehicle to Camaro in every regard.

not from the factory, but yea, the modding potential on those is pretty beastly.

Not from the factory? Their new 3.5 V6 will probably have a minimum of 270 hp and be quicker than the Camaro V6 because it's lighter... the EcoBoost 3.7 makes like 350, and they have a 5.0 making over 400.. again, these motors going into a lighter car.
