pics of the ECOboost (tiny turbos)
gm could have and should have built their own version a couple years ago out of the 3.6l. i mean, its already direct injected, why not drop the compression and slap a couple turbos on there. honestly from the 3.6, i dont see 400hp being an issue, and i honestly beleive that should be the mid-level motor in the camaro, save the v8 for a z28. but, as usual, ford has done the cutting edge thing and in 3 or 4 years gm will release something to compete, but by that time ford will already have the next big thing out.
good on ford for actualy building this motor, smaller displacment boosted engines are the future. ford has said they will be replacing current v6 cars with the ecoboost 4 cyl, and v8 cars (except for the mustang) and trucks with this ecoboost v6. there will always (in the forseeable future) be a v8 in the trucks. think of the ecoboost v6 as a replacment for the 4.6l, and the new 5.0l will be the replacment for the 5.4

BTW, anyone have a picture of the size of our turbos in the 2008-2009 Cobalts?

wow, i do fail... just looked it up. i dont remember where i got that from but i could of sworn there was a thread about the v6 in the camaro being a turbo. cuz originally the 3.6l only made like 260 horse and i thought it got turbod in 08 to get extra mpg's and power.

i think you may have seen people talking about how turboing the v6 would end up being more economical than buying the SS.

in typical vvt fashion, as the VE of the motor shifted with the cams (thus PR) they kept eating turbos.
the program was pushed for a while, but then budget cuts hit.....and...well, you know the rest from there.

but for it being a tank its still pretty impressive
