View Full Version : Horrible cluster!!!
Novagenesis300 07-19-2004, 11:08 PM Well I am really dissapointed in chevy. For being a hot tuner car that the cobalt is trying to be, the guage cluster is for retards. Its all idiot lights. The only things they have are speed, speedo, and gas. yes thats all you need but it dosent even have a friggin temp guage. Not cool at ALL!
JonyyB 07-19-2004, 11:59 PM Lol the gauges are one of the cool parts of the car. Digital instruments are the way to go; after all we are in 2004. But I guess its all a matter of personal preference
Welcome to the board dude. :hi:
Impavalier 07-20-2004, 12:43 AM Glad to see you made it, and i still disagree with you, even though the temp is displayed on the center thingy, i love the gauges. :P
RedCavyRS99 07-20-2004, 01:05 AM  dont bother me either way gimme a fuel guage and ill put in the rest
Novagenesis300 07-20-2004, 10:04 AM what do you mean the cluster is digital? I know there is a driver info center but still i would like to know whats going on with the car instead of just a stupid little light that turns on when the car is about to burst into flames.
Novagenesis300 07-20-2004, 10:36 PM Well? any response?
JonyyB 07-20-2004, 11:47 PM Well? any response?
I'll tell you when the car comes out :D
zstyle 07-23-2004, 04:08 AM I'm with you Nova, I like to see temp, oil pressure and electrical gauges on the dash... idiot lights suck.
Novagenesis300 07-23-2004, 10:45 AM finally someone with some sense. I like to see whats going on with the car.
Impavalier 07-23-2004, 10:47 AM AH AH AH! someones gettin a little Testy! just because not everyone hates the idiot lights! lol
kidding
Co-Bolting 09-09-2004, 12:47 PM If your that worried about the gauges dont. You can still add aftermarket parts. It may not be what your looking for but at least its something. So with a HOT car we found one dissappointed thing. And thats just a matter of personal preference. Im still buying it.
zstyle 09-10-2004, 01:08 PM I'm sure there will be some nice aftermarket gauges out there for it, as long as they have a clean, stock look I would probably get them.
SilverCSS 09-13-2004, 06:19 PM For a car like this, especially one that's supercharged, I definitely would like to know what's going on. However, I sincerely doubt that even if GM switched up their gauge cluster, they'd have any of the information I was looking to know. I'll probably install quite a few gauges of my own, in time. Oil pressure, Oil Temp, EGT, volt, vacuum, etc. There's a lot of potential with the gauge face to insert a custom template, IMO. It'd be nice if more information came stock, sure, but for me, I'd still be fiddling with it.
Overall, I can't complain about the car. Aggressive exterior, perfect interior (for me) and an incredible, race proven platform (Ecotec). For 21k MSRP, I'll take one; two if I had the extra cash. :D
zinner 09-13-2004, 08:54 PM Check the GM site yo!
"Instrumentation, analog titanium-faced gauges: includes speedometer, temperature, fuel, tachometer, trip odometer, boost gauge and Driver Information Center. "
That comes standard on the SS, as for the other versions, if you get the base model don't expect anything except idoit lights and if you get more thats good. I guess oil pressure and battery voltage would be nice, but I am gonna whine about it either.
Arrowslinger 09-13-2004, 09:27 PM I guess oil pressure and battery voltage would be nice, but I am gonna whine about it either.
A good set of suns mounted will take care of that and look nice to boot :D
Novagenesis300 09-13-2004, 10:36 PM I emailed Gm and there is no temp guage. its a typo. what they meant to say is outside temp in the driver info center. i still hate the cluster.
Co-Bolting 09-14-2004, 12:52 PM sucky cluster or not, I still think the car is HOT. And I really dont mind it that much anyways. That just what I think
