Stock clutch w/ the most miles?
Stock clutch w/ the most miles?
I am just currious who has an SS/SC and has the most milage on their stock clutch?
Also, how much of this was rough milage?
I am at 51,XXX miles and counting, and my clutch is as good as day 1. I have gone to the track many times, and am a spirited driver. I am also way out of stock power levels (269 HP/2XX TQ) I know a while back a lot of owners where saying the stock clutch was complete garbage. Considering mine has held up to the use I put it through, I just thought I would share, and say its really not as bad as it could have been.
Oh I learned to drive stick on this car too, just FYI.

im at almost 90k (65k w/ 2.8) and it still feels great
im pretty easy on my car though
i bought a spec 2+ when i first started modding years ago because i heard everyone was going through the stock ones like crazy... well it sat in my garage for years until i sold it to a buddy that needed it... the clutches hold pretty good on these cars until you get to crazy power.

I'm only at 38000 but my cluch is holding fine. If you know how to drive you have little to worry about.
Oh and I am 100% calling bullshit on your power estimations. 269hp on a 2.8 and stage 2? I had the same and barley made 245. Dyno please.
Its possible but you need waaaaaay more than to just pulley down.
P.S. dont thread jack

not on a cobalt i know but i think i take the cake and thefishyisblue will back me up on this. I own a 1990 Pathfinder with 192,000 miles with the stock clutch. I have gone offroading, towed a boat, done burnouts, and countless hours of pulling stuck cars out of the snow.

I agree... I bet mine only slips cause when i first started driving it i was a dumb ass slipping the **** outa it all the time and beating on it for long periods of time.... I really think the driver has everything to do with clutch life

95k on stock clutch. I don't think there has been a day since I bought it brand new that I haven't been WOT with it, that includes the test drive. Last year was the first time it went to the track and I've had maybe 50 passes.
115k on my stocker before blowing the tranny apart, replaced with an ACT now. stock clutch outlasted the tranny and axles.
stocker was still holding but I could feel slip on the top end, when i pulled it the disc was still inside the required thickness.
l8r,
PD
