Getting good gas mileage in 2.0
Getting good gas mileage in 2.0
With raising gas prices, I decided to start driving my car more economically on a day-to-dasy basis, and only punch it when I'm actually racing. Here are a few tips to get the most out of your tank of gas:
1. shift @ 2500 rpm through gears
2. Be in 5th gear by 45mph
3. If you cruise at 65mph ( I know it's hard) You'll get 34-38mpg on the hwy
4. If you cruise at 45mpg (5th gear) on the street, you'll get 27-30mpg.
5. Keep tire pressure at 32psi as much as possible.
Doing the above, I've driven 112 miles so far and JUST NOW used a 1/4 tank
At the rate I'm going, I'll get about 370 miles out of this tank. Now you can brag to some 350z guys, or mustang guys that you just beat in a race that your car not only beat them, but you get 35+ mpg on the hwy
..Then ask then to top that

I got 40MPG (with Gm stage 2) at one time but i can average about 34 to 37. I also got 99.9 going down hill at 65 in neutral one time( i guess that is its max MPG value. Also I can get about 300 to 380 miles out of 11 gallens. I would put the pressure about 36 to 38 for the best mileage. Also I shift at 2.2k and drive like a grandpa.
Nice post, it's pretty much how i drive normally...I am definitely a Grandpa driver 98% of the time....I'm averaging around 28mpg city driving and anywhere from 32-36mpg highway driving @ 70mph (cruise control on) when I go to Baton Rouge to see my girl.
Ya it is 13 gallons tank but the 2 gallons left is reserve and the fuel gage will drop way below the e mark and the low fuel warning will come on when you have 2 gallons or less left in the tank about 50 miles or less.
I think my worst tank was 19mpg, and that was my first tank, which involved lots of stalling.
Since then my worst was around 22mpg.
I have only looked at highway once and was averaging between 75mph-90mph, with a passenger and a full trunk. I got 28mpg.

I have heard from two different people that after installing bigger injectors, they have seen an increase in gas milage?
When gas is above $3/gal I shift at 2500 rpm and coast in neutral A-LOT. I can get about 350 miles to a tank when doing that.

I shift at 3000, 4000 for 1st gear and Im usually in the passing lane
I drove for almost 40 miles with my gas gauge needle deep into the circle BELOW the E line, I got 29.5 mpg in the city and like 37 or 38 hwy! Now that was going in the slow lane at like 64 or 65, and cruising city at 46 in 5th gear.
I guess that the Stage 2s remaped fuel curve improves the A/F ratio better economy better performance.
I only have 600 miles on mine getting close to 30 on the hiway mid 20s around town.
will be getting stage 2 when i hit 1k.
