Failure at the track
Failure at the track
Well I went to the the track the other night and this is the first time ive gone since i was stock 2 years ago when i was able to pull a 14.6.......So since then i have added 2.9 pullley, 42lb injectors, zzp header, zzp cattless DP, gmpp exhaust, CAI, 75 wet shot of N2o, and tune. So i thought for sure even with my lack of track skills id be able to hit 13 something, well i pull up to the line, launch it horribly.....proceed to spray the hell out of it till the end and ended up with : 2.7 - 60ft
14.3@108
I was pretty dissapointed, it was the only run i was able to get in due to the weather. With that trap speed i should be able to hit a 13 if i learn how to launch it shouldn't I?

12's?? really? well ive never been a track/numbers kinda person so yea. Yea i was gona try slipping the clutch but i wasnt able to get another run in, weather permitting im going back this week sometime.
Yeah man. 12's for SURE with a good launch. Rule of thumb: For every 0.1 you take off of your 60ft. it's 0.2 better in the quarter mile. If you shave that down to a 2.0 60' with drag radials.. (Which I've done on street tires) that makes it 0.7 better on the 60' and 1.4 seconds better in the quarter.. Which would put you at a 12.9...
**** slipping the clucth! that just slows you down, if you out there beating on your car thats a chance you will take of breaking it, let the clutch out at 3500 and nail it.... at the top of first gear spray it
I just fail at the track i guess.....i can launch it great on the street no problem but when it comes to the track i just go into retarded mode or something. Well im going back thursday so we will see how it goes then.
You need to be less aggressive when you launch. I ran a 13.9 with GM STG2 and a K&N drop-in filter. I released the clutch and peddled the throttle through 1st. No feathering or dropping of the clutch is needed to get into the 13s even with my mods.
The general rule of thumb says you'll take 2/10 off your 1/4 mile time with every 1/10 drop in 60ft time. So with a nominal 2.3 60ft, you should at least be running mid 13's.
SWWWEEEEET!
Nice times for GM Stage 2 and an intact GM warranty!

Nope, warranty was expired when I went stage 2. A nice catback is next around tax season.
