well my car blew a run/crank fuse tonight so i replaced it with the 30a block fuse that it calls for and it blew as well in like 10 secs so then i replaced it with a 40a fuse and i drove it a city block and then my lights started flickering so i pulled into a parking lot and shut it off when i shut it off and the inside lights came on the cab was full of smoke so i didnt wasnt to drive it anymore like that so i had a friend tow me home with his civic i was wondering could this be a problem with the steering column? cause i dont have any idea

HELP!!

Figure out where the smoke came from and start pulling all the melted wires apart making sure that you tape any that are bare copper after that.
If our lucky it might be a componet that was smoking that needs to be replaced.

NEVER UP SIZE A FUSE BECAUSE IT IS BLOWN !!!!!!!

Fuses are used to protect the wires that are feed from it .Otherwise as you will probably find out you should of just let it burn.

what the ****!!! NEVER UP SIZE A FUSE WHEN IT KEEPS BLOWING! you probably just turned a one wire issue, into replacing a section of the harness

If its the crank fuse 30amp that blew like you said then it would have to be a starter problem of some kind or the crank relay itself.
That fuse feeds a purple wire from the under hood fuse box to the starter.
If something in the car was smoking then I think you must of upped the size on a different fuse
possibly the IP gen fuse .
So which fuse was it and be 100% on that .
And where did you notice the smoke come from inside or outside the car.

Follow the purple wire from the starter back to the fuse box first to figure out what got fried.

So you posted this on here and RLF just for everyone to say the same things about your ignorant decision to get the wrong fuse?
