You could put amber bulbs in your reverse lights and wire those up as your turns signals, and move your reverse lights elsewhere (eg. rear window or rear lip of 2.0 Cobalts) but that's probably not going to look great.
well see the ting is i nedd amber turn lights so that i can pass MOT here in England. and i dont want someone else doing a hack job on my car when i can do somethin on my own and know its good.and the want to charge me almost $400 to do the job...its benn a montth and a half since i had my car and dont remember how my light work in the rear. so do all my lights light up when i step on the brack. damn this sound like i might have some trouble doing.
The cobalt didn't come with amber turn signals, in any country. Therefore, you shouldn't need to have them.
There is no aftermarket amber blinker for the cobalt and never will be due to the way the rear end is designed. I think there's something in the law ur missing cuz I don't see Chevy selling a car in any country that won't pass the laws set forth by said countries

It's probably been grey market imported or he's military stationed there and had it shipped.
This is a pretty common question for a lot of other US-spec cars that make their way to Europe. For example when I was working in Germany on a US base you'd see personnel sometimes selling their cars to Germans and they'd also have to do similar modifications to pass TUV testing.
As was already suggested your best bet is to re-wire the car to use amber bulbs in the reverse lights. Then place a small reverse light out from under the rear bumper. I've seen some aftermarket lamps that also include a rear fog lamp if you want or need one for England. If you do that right it really won't look too bad.

That doesn't make sense tho. If that was the case then GM Europe would have made the cobalt with the ambers for sale in the UK. Your best bet is probably going to be cut a hole in the bumper and add a blinker on your own tho. Cuz as of now, there's no aftermarket clear replacement tails for the cobalt. They're integrated signal/brake lights, so you'd have to wire the blinker somewhere else and use an amber bulb in that.
yes i am in teh military and having my car shipped over.im not really big on cutting a hole in my bumper to have a turn signal. damn this sucks. hopefully i can get something worked out or i will have a new cobalt with very few miles in 3 yrs. which would suck cause i already miss my car.
Like I said, it should be no problem to install amber turns in the reverse lights like they do in other cars. Then tack on a reverse light that sticks out under the rear bumper. Biggest hassle is going to be the wiring since the car uses an integral setup with a single bulb for tail/brake/turn duties. If you haven't don so already you might try stopping by your auto hobby shop on base and see what they recommend. This isn't something new and people have been brining cars over for years.
well i recently talked to my auto hobby shop here on base. and aturns out that they have had no luck doing amber turn signals with the 08 N 09 model cobalts. he said, " the car goes into limp mode when trying to modify the wiring system." and being there are not many 08 or 09 cobalts here. i knew he knew what he was talking about once he said limp mode. cause our pos ECU is the only 1 that does that... ok a lil bit of a rant there. but im wondering if i get a tune, if it could possibly counteract the problem. but i will mos def give it a shot on my own n get a 4sure concusion 4 my own eyes. but if any1 with a tune would like to take time out of their day n give me a hand, i would greatly appreciate it thanks.
oh and i get what u saying blackbird, but if what i hear is true, i dont know what the hell to do.

This is probably more work than worth, and may not look good, but would they accept the amber center to red ring, like the reverse lights. I mean it would blink amber.
If yes, all you would need is someone to fabricate the lens, now no wiring needed

that would work. and sound good in theory real good. but would not know 4 sure untli i talked to someone aobut it. but mainly no red blinking turn signal. i would a seperate bulb for the amber part. but if i could find something like that n red/amber. it would mos def work

i have not looked at the bulb or plugs itself. but i assume its one plug with turn n stop light together plugged into 1 light bulb? am i wrong? i hop i am cause if i am i might be getting somewhere here. with ur help of course
just do as they said, put amber bulbs in your reverse and wire it up to the blinker. then do what i did for reverse and get the white led lisence plate bolts and wire those to the reverse. it works. your best bet probably
That being said, if you were to tap into the front turn signal lines you would at least get a source that would blink when you used the signals but not light up when you get on the brake. You would still have to deal with the brake lights blinking when you use the signals but I'm thinking that you could tap into the third brake light for that.
This would mean dragging wire from the front to the rear (for the turns) and I expect you would need to leave the rear bulbs in the circuit and "hide" them (or replace them with resistors) so you don't get the fast "you got a light out" blink.
I leave it to you to figure out how to drag all the wires where they need to go.....
that sounds pretty good dabuzzard. sounds very doable.i am going to try it out sometime this weekend or next. i got an appt with a car center n im gonna see what they can do. if it fails i will then tell them my excuse me ur idea n see what hapapends. thanks.
I read through this and DaBuzzard posted exactly what I was thinking. Just tap into your front signals and run those two wires into the trunk. Then tap into the third brake light and run a wire to each outer light, essentially replacing the brake circuit with a new source. Then you can run the new signals wires to the reverse lights and use an amber bulb to make it legal.
If you really run out of ideas on where to put new reverse lights, PM me as I have an idea kicking around in my head that may be useful here but I want to keep quiet for now lol.

That would work if it wont limp mode the car.
