Hey guys. I know we kinda discussed this before, so I though we should get on with the planning stage of it. Bud park is open for some runs soon, so I am sure many of you, like me, are itching to make an ass of ourselves with our cars at the track (or actually run good quarter times if you know how to drive)! :lol:

I was thinking we could meet somewhere for supper in Leduc (or Edmonton I guess) at about 6:00 and then head out to the strip for some racing action. I have never done this, so I don't know what time they run these on Friday night or what the cost is. They just changed the website, and I can't even find the same schedule that I posted above that was on the site a few weeks back!

Anyone who knows more about street legals at Bud Park please post up. Now we just need to see who is interested, and when we are going to try and do this.

All I know is that they changed the name of the park to Castrol

i might be able to make it on the 12th... im dynoing on the 13 but im not sure if i can make it up early enough on the 12th to race

It opens THIS FRIDAY, MAY 5TH!!!!!!!
Go check it out, some new rules this year, and maybe earlier start times.

^ Sean, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The synthetic oil is amazing stuff. It lasts forever and barely breaks down. If you are really worried, maybe see if you can take it in for the service before next week? Otherwise, don't run if it concerns you. I was kinda thinking I haven't had an oil change yet on my car, so I dunno if I wanna run it that hard through 3 gears with all the metal flakes floating around in the oil? Maybe I should do an oil change early too, or not run?

They didn't have all the info up yet, but it is now there. So it is $25.00 to run, and $10.00 for a crew? Anyone bring a crew? :lol: Do you only get one run for $25??? I am pretty well good for any Friday, but for the 12th we seem to have some decent interest.

Is the 12th good, or do we need another day? Also, when and where are we meeting (doing something beforehand, or just dragging)? If the Calgary people come, they likely won't be out until 8 PM or later.

Not too worried about the oil as it was changed about 2000kms ago, only the tire residue and me complaining about the knock everytime I turn the steering wheel.:lol:

i have 10 000 km on my car now, and i had my first oil change at 7000 km. And i put on 22 passes at the track in the last 1000 kms without a second oil change (oil life still at 78%). So today i looked at my oil, and its still light brown with no flakes or anything. This is some good oil lol.

I think you will be fine to run your car. I have been really hard on my car ( i never bought it to baby it) and its holding up really strong.

So like I said guys... "Just Do It"

BTW, its 25 bucks for as many runs as you can get in.... not just one run :P

It rained here this morning but it is sunny now. Called the raceway and the will be open but... abunch of the guys are bitching out so i think we are going to be heading down next friday

Do you need a helmet to run? I might have one autocrossing, but I can't see you needing one on a dragstrip. Our cars are nowhere near fast enough to require a crash helmet. Besides, Insurance aint going to fix it if I crash at a raceway, so might as well go with the car. (J/K of course! :p: ) If I need one, I have no cash to drop right now, so drag racing will be out this summer because I really need to save some money until I know what is going on job-wise in the fall.

Where are you getting it from? I may invest in one sometime. I really want to autocross this car, but with my work schedule right now it isn't going to happen. I don't think that I will buy a helmet until I know I am going to use it.

it was wicked. managed to get in 24 runs....

ran a best of 13.28@108.88mph... woot. on street tires. (now alberta's fastest SRT on street tires) and with the new parts this week, i hope to be about .5-.6 of a second faster.
