Talking Got rid of it before I blew it up.

What's happening people. I've finally lost it with the Turbo Cobalt. Just a recap of the fucked up relationship I had with it. 5,000 miles, rear brakes gone. A little after that MAF sensor quit. At 14,000 miles, the turbo spun it's bearings, and it took 2 months for the car to become fully operational again. When the dealership replaced the turbo, they re-used all of the gasketts instead of replacing them and the car developed an exaust leak. The exaust manifold cracked at 16,000 miles. Then the rear brakes needed replacing again. I finally called it quits and traded in my car. Visually the car was flawless. You could have honestly parked it next to brand new SS's and no one would be the wiser. So what I do? Traded it in for a brand new 09 4 door Cobalt SS. Oh and yes, I got the 60 day love it or hate it option. November 4th the car is going back for a full refund. I am 21 years old. I live alone in my apartment. My car payment was $346 a month, my insurance was $353 a month. I have an excellent career, so the payments weren't killing me. The reason I got rid of it is NOT because I couldn't afford it, it was because I do not believe in paying $700 a month for a brand new peice of ****. If the car had no issues, I would have been more than happy to keep it. The kids my age that live with their parents have no idea how good they have it when it comes to insurance, oh yeah I have no accidents or recent tickets either. If your Cobalt works flawlessly, then I am envious of you. When it WAS working, it was a ****** rocket. But I'd rather have a slow car that works 100% of the time then a fast car that works 70% of the time. Off to the realm of RWD

Good job, GM is ******* bull ****

I took mine in for warranty, they had to replace a tensioner, you know what they did? Blew the engine and then voided my warranty to cover there ass and gave me the engine in the trunk and i had it towd home

Buy a car from a company where you will get at least some decent service

GM should not be around anymore

^crying about GM FTL... I hate to break it to ya but there isn't ANY car manufacturer around that actually WANTS to honor warranty. If they can get out of fixing your car for free they will.

Hopefully you aren't trying to get that unattainable car that people will warranty no matter what because it isn't going to ever happen, especially in this economy.

What you mean Toyota doesn't warranty everything and get you a bj you every time you walk into dealer? You lied to me

JK its true. I worked at a supplier and when the OEM blamed the problem on a supplier issue we turned around and blamed the issue on the owner, dealership, or anyone else we could blame. It didn't even matter if we knew the part was bad and it was our fault.

right

Well my dealship destoryed my engine, lied to me, told me i drove in with bent intake valves

Acording to my dealership my car was the first car in the world to drive with 0 compression in all 4 cylinders

I understand companys dont want to do warranty, but to lie to a customers face and give them the car back in bits when that car drove into the dealership

That is why i say **** GM...

GM doesn't own or control the dealership. You want to blame someone blame the dealership for screwing you.

It would be like someone punching you in the face and you blame their mom.

You better hope no one backs into your car or you dont have a scratch on it . It's ineligible for return if it has more than 200 dollars worth of damage . That could be one little key mark.

I wonder if the dealers have people that roam the parking lots looking for cars about to be returned .........Opps where did that scratch come from???

Your 1st Turbo Balt had all the problems ? Then, you traded it in for a sedan - has that had any problems ?

Sorry to hear about your troubles - sounds like the one w/ the turbo & manifold was just bad from the get go.

The other thing I seem to see a lot of from my readings here is that so many problems seemed to be caused by dealership wrenching, not solved by it.

I realize that relative to the total production there aren't many LNF Balts out here, but Jeebus H Kee-rrist - isn't it common sense/mandatory mechanic procedue to look at a service manual before blindly tearing into something you have never played w/ before ?

Anyway, best of luck on your 2nd/3rd car , whatever it may be !

What color of hair do you want ? Blue, Green, Purple, neon green is probably the best ... Mr. 10 post.com

You are going to have a lot of people here vouche that they have been running Cobalt TC's tuned pushing 22.5 PSI 300Hp+ for around 20 thousand miles with no problems what so ever. I am not going to act like I "Rod" my car but I don't drive it like a grandpa. Most people probably wouldn't buy my car off me after they see how its driven on a daily basis. I don't take it to the drag strip but this car has held up remarkably good for the cost to performance ratio to run . especially since the inssurance on a cobalt SS is going to be about HALF of anythng with a 5.0 - 6.2 liter and also cheaper then a lot of imports. I have an 08 civic and an 09 ss balt and the civic is like TEN DOLLARS cheaper on insurrance even though it's a year older has half the option and half the HP.

My buddy pays 480 bucks a month for his EVO 10 just on insurrance, My other friend pays almost 550 for his g8gt And hes 26 with a clean driving record ...

Maybe you should buy a ferrari or something that will "suite" your build quality standards and stop buying cars that are supposed to outperform your expectations. I mean you bought a cobalt dude WTF ..

I'd laugh if he ends up buying it because of that.

Truth.

As much as I like to bitch about my car (mainly about stupid interior noises), it's really been flawless for me. It has not cost me a dime to maintain other than oil changes, and I think your dealership really sucks. My dealership has been really good...even when I bring it in for stupid little things that they can't even find.
