silencer for a side exit exhaust

does anyone know if the megan catback silencer would work with a custom side exit exhaust?

its full 3 inch piping and i have no muffler, and i need to quiet this thing down when i start it up in the morning. the car is friggen loud when it first starts, so i need a silencer that can do a hell of a job in quieting it down.

so ya would the megan silencer work, or are there any other universal type ones i could stick in there? plan is to just put it in there when i start up and take it out once the car warms up.

Install a 5" round Magnaflow up in the tunnel where the pipe is routed. Will make it deeper and mellow it out some like you need without any obstructions. Only thing I can think of..........

Give something like this a try maybe. I took an old flowmaster muffler I had kicking around with a 3" inlet, and a piece of 3"id high temp hose that just slips over the tip. When I start the car it muffles the sound really nice, and after a few minutes of warming up, I just slide the sucker off and go on my way. Go ahead and poke fun, but seriously this works great. It may not be the most astetically pleasing, but I prefer function over form, plus its only on the car for a few minutes and no one else see it anyways.

lol.. like I said man, poke fun but I'd rather be able to remove the piece as a please instead of installing a resonator. I love the sound of the exhaust, minus the rediculously loud cold start-ups, so why change it with a resonator.. Hense my little removable muffler setup

Let's see some WOT videos, inside the car or outside.. So far I have only seen the sound of the side exit at low RPMs.

I'm just going to rig something up with the stock muffler so I can slide it on and off for cold startups and just keep it in my trunk. The muffler delete and catless has made it quite loud during a cold start...I mean it was loud stock but this is retarded...it sounds like there's an old prop plane sitting behind my car.

yeah I know. I looks total freakin ghetto, but you can't agrue with results right. I'm glad you tried it out and like it. So now you can start you car in the morning or the middle of the night and not make enemies with all the neighbors within a half a mile radius of your house and have the flexability to still have the nasty tone that the side exit gives..

Hey Menace, are you running the stock downpipe? How do you think our setup would sound with a catless dp, that is unless you don't already have one? I'm considering going with a catless, but I'm sorta afraid to figuring that if my **** is load now, I could only imagine what it would sound like running a catless dp as well

Just wanted to inform everybody of my exciting news. I will be receiving a Jannetty Racing 3" side exit exhaust for my SS/TC tomorrow! In angst, I removed my exhaust today in preparation for this new toy. I already have a Clear Image catless downpipe installed.

Let's just say I did a lot of driving around tonight with JUST the catless downpipe...I am tuned btw, 22 psi.

The car was ridiculously loud, I mean it was deafening. I am now beginning to doubt my decision to purchase this... but I will still put it on and see how it works out..yeah I am pretty sure I am gonna be gettin pulled over for this loud exhaust at some point in time. After which I will probably need to put a resonator or something on.

there are a couple guys around here that have side exits, they sound pretty much like an srt-4 with a side exit at idle if you have ever heard one of those.
