Brake pads for track?

I've been looking around for a good setup for brake pads for track.. I've raced on the stock pads and I was impressed on how well they held up.. But I'm lookng for something better but at the same time not breaking the bank. I was looking at running HP+ F&R, anyone try this setup? How well did they hold up? Thanks!

I haven't tried that set up, but I did run DTC-70's up front last month at ACC. I liked em veddy much. Circumstances didn't allow me to bed them OR switch back to stock pads/rotors before having to drive out there either. They seemed to do well on the street, too. But, I brake lightly and less often than most and, the weather was nice and I wasn't presented with any panic-braking situations so I can't say for sure that they are safe for the street.

Stockers. With 10K miles and 8 track days, they still had good life. Next year, I'm going to try the DTC-60s on the rear. I'm going to one more event this year, but I don't have the money to get the pads and a set of rotors to go with them. I hope to go to a two day event early in the year where I can easily try the 60s on the second day for a decent comparison.

I should have mentioned in my first post that this was my first time with any kind of track pad. A grain of salt should be taken. The 70s seem to make a whistle before changing to a whine after they warm up. I found it helpful and I'm sure others here can tell you if that is normal or not. You can hear it the vid:

Please excuse the rather poor and inconsistent driving. My instructor got ill after the third session of the first day and this is my first solo session.

BTW, I was also impressed with the stock front pads. I decided to change after gassing them sent me off track in Topeka. I also went with the slotted Brembo rotors from genuinesaab.com. I would not purchase the rotors unless you own a dremel. For $30 over the price of stock rotors, I wasn't exactly expecting chamferred edges and ****, but damn, they didn't even de-burr them. To me, that's an unfinished bit of machine work. 20 minutes with a conical stone bit and I was no longer afraid the big jaggies would rip huge chunks of pad material away.

Yeah, I've run track pads on my civic and I love running them. I was just wondering if it's worth the upgrade cause they come with a hefty price. I was also thinking of just keeping the front stock cause I've raced them already and they felt pretty damn good, but getting hp+ for the rear to see if it betters the brake bias...

Give Danny Puskar at CarboTech (www.CTBrakes.com) a call about pads. He can offer you solid advice on what to use.

I wish carbotech had something between the ax6 and xp8. I used to run there AX6 on an autocross/track day car and were great but that car weighed 900lbs less and had 100 less hp. The xp8 seems like to much for the street. I've been thinking about trying cobalt frictions xr-1, although I've heard the're a bit pricey. Anyone try them? or the CSR?

I've used Hawk HPS and HP-Plus pads for a 2900lb autocross car. I found the HPS to be not much different that the stock pads. The HP-Plus pads were dramatically better -- accompanied by a certain 'grinding' noise and more dust. They were not grabby, they were easily modulated and they really bit.

They also really 'screamed' -- really loud, high pitched, made everyone look whenever I applied the brakes, made me wince -- so I had to invest a bit of time with brake pad silence techniques (I found a spray-on that worked great).

I liked the HP-Plus pads, but they definitely gound-away rotor...
