Brake Squeek

I have a really loud and annoying brake squeek from my front brakes. I bought the car brand new. Think I can take take this in on warranty to get it fixed? I dont think I should have to pay for this. Happens from about 20-0 anything above 20mph it doesnt squeek. Just pissed off that my brand new car already has a squeek. Car just broke 2500 miles.

Are you talking about the typical high performance brake squeak?

It's the cold weather, I live near Chicago as well. It's just the compound of the pads, they don't like cold weather

I've got the same squeak at 11k now. The check brakes message came on the info center twice. I don't brake hard so I guess I'll check them out later today when I'm off. I can't imagine it's in need of new pads already...

Trade it in on an LS and stop bitching then, I hear they are quiet.

People bitch about pads that other people wish they could run on their cars.

Yeah it's normal, it can get a little annoying but it's just the compound.. You can try buying some cheap ceramic pads for the winter..

Because squeaky brakes=cheap.

Of course. Always. Here's a novel idea...press the pedal a little harder, wait a little longer to stop, I bet they don't squeak.

So you get the performance FWD car and bitch about the noisy brakes.

That makes as much sense as putting an exhaust on something, then complaining because it is louder.

Shoulda got a Camry man. They're quiet.

Ok, so let me get this straight...because I own a Cobalt SS, I have to come into a stop at like 30 miles an hour and slam on the brakes?? I think thats a little bit different then putting an exhaust on a car and complaining about it being loud. Thats expected. Brakes are not expected to be loud. Like we are saying, it happens at like slow speeds, kinda like when I'm driving into the gate on post, in stop and go traffic...hmmm, I'll look real cool coasting then slamming on the brakes so I don't get the squeel...I'll also look like I don't know how to drive......Not!

So when you hear a car come by you and you hear the noisy ass brakes you think..."Wow, great performance brake dude!" I HIGHLY doubt it...

Sooo...lemme get this straight...my brakes squeel when I'm coasting below 10mph on a car thats less then a year old and that means I don't know how to drive? Hmm...wow...ok. Well congrats on having a car that doesn't have squeeky brakes.

Boo whooo...I'm voted off "SS Island"...

No it means you don't understand performance brakes...aren't quiet.

I know this seems like an amazingly difficult concept to grasp, but, I said it again so you can read again and hopefully try to understand it this time.
