GT35R Swapped Cobalt SS LSJ

As many of you in our area know the first turbo swapped LSJ car we did was Maxim_X's 2006 Cobalt SS. The car has since been through a couple turbo swaps and has been through multiple different power levels.

Well, We just finished the latest turbo swap for Maxim_X in the tune of a GT35R.

Car has an otherwise stock motor, stock cams, and LK9 intake mani.

The car last night put down 381 whp and 328 wtq

and for your viewing pleasure

Nice... but 381/328 seems pretty weksos for a GT35R. How much boost is that on?

Sorry if an explanation is in the video... I can't watch it here, internet is too slow.

What does your car make for power?

The limit right now is the 60# injectors. They are hovering above 100%. But, on the stockmotor I don't think I would push it much further, even with bigger injectors.

Car is on 22psi. Big thing missing here is that its still on the lsj blower cams, and that its a bone stock motor, no ported head etc. keep in mind this is a pump gas only tune. pretty good numbers in our mind or a stock blower motor thats been turbo swapped.

Not too bad for a turbo that size on a restricted head like ours.

How's it feel on the street?

What's that have to do with anything? All that was needed to say was that you are still on 60# injectors, and that's why it didn't make more power.

And on 17psi, 11.5 AFR, and 18* of Timing... I'm only making about 30-40 less WHP than you with a 50trim and a very basic street tune. Probably would have maxed out the injectors too if I had more than a week with the car before I left.

can you tell me why my IDC's are 101% with 60's? im only running the s20g and im getting 101% IDC's at the end of 3rd.. i didnt think i would have to upgrade injectors to 80's.. any idea?

How much boost are you running, what is your AFR at, and how much power are you putting down?

375-380whp is right about 100% IDC's, depending on the AFR.

Couldn't you just go return style and tune for that instead of just putting on bigger injectors?

You are probably right around 370-380whp then. That's just the limit of those injectors.

OTTP has 80's on sale right now.

He probably could... but it would be cheaper to just buy 80's. Especially with OTTP's sale going on.

This needs ported head and cams and it'll probably gain 100 whp.

How much worse spool does the GT35R yield over the GT30R?

he MIGHT actually make it to the track... but at the moment the weather looks like it might stop him from doing so. Car does pull real hard and on the street it is fun. One of the biggest problems with running the 60's up to this power level is the car doesnt have an adjustable pressure regulator on it, so you cant cheat the 60's with extra fuel pressure from a rising rate regulator like the one offered by ZZP.

Like mentioned the return style would help, but the rising rate reg would help as well and would keep you from having to upgrade to 80's. For example our race car makes very similar power (through an auto mind you) and with our A1000 pump and rising rate regulator (with return style system) we only see 75-82 duty cycle with an 11.5 afr. Just some food for thought and just stating there are multiple ways to skin the cat!
