MOAR FAIL w/brakes...

So I thought they were pretty shitty in the rain, some other people commented similar issues. Yesterday and today were the first days in the snow with this car for me and GM didn't disappoint! The brakes are equally scary when there is snow on the ground!! The pedal felt stiff and no matter how hard I pressed there was no change in brake feel. I reverted back to dragging the brakes occasionally and it helped tremendously!

Anyone else try there's in the snow yet??

My car was great last winter with all-season tires. What tire are you running?

yea, i had mine in the snow last year with the ss/na's on with stock ss/na rubber (brand new) they did bite hard and pedal was stiff. Make sure to drag em like you do, its worth it every 1 mile or 2 to tap em in the snow or rain.

I removed all of my brakes. I found that "Fred Flinstoning" it works better.

What does GM have to do with it? They bought some brake calipers from Brembo and slapped them on the car. Try different pads.

I just had issues in the snow with the stock tires...(Flame suit on) until I replaced them with the BFG g-Force A/S ones. (Flame suit off)

The brakes suck in the rain like has been stated but the stock tires really sucked in the snow & dry roads cold. They are truly a Summer Only tire as stated. Maybe they were just providing no traction and the ABS was fooling you.

I can't agree on this one. I drive my SS in winter conditions most members of this forum can't even dream of (some days below -40F, insane amounts of snow). I certainly experience brutal braking performance in the rain, but in the snow, I have no issues. The brakes work well, especially combined with my amazing winter tires (Gizlaved Nordfrost 5s).

This car is the best I've ever driven in the snow, aside from vehicles with AWD and/or locking diffs.

The brakes are fine once you slew off the water film from the rotors. Slotted rotors would help a lot me thinks.

They were fine dry in the cold for me though. Seems the worst around 40 - 45 degrees f when wet to me. Every Cavi, Sunbird, Sunfire, G5 & Cobalt I owned are like this one until you get the water off.

I made it until January I think, then a pothole blew out one Conti so I replaced all 4.

My brakes have worked extremely well from the hottest summer day to the coldest (single digit F) winter days. Only problem is the grooving in the rears.

Been driving around in the snow last week or so here in Calgary when temps dipped down to about -10 degrees celsius and I had no problems with the brakes. I'm on Falken Eurowinter HS 439's (stock size) and rear Hawk HPS pads if that makes a difference.
