Getting on the highway shift into 5th, rpms drop and when i push on the accelerator, nothing happened and then it would catch back up and jerk and then constant sputtering and jerking in all gears. even when in neutral the car would rev to 3k and drop, rev to 3k and drop. Tried going again and it would buck and jerk still while constantly bouncing rpms.

Towed to dealer, and they havent called yet, what could this be?

Also my car has been making a very loud ticking noise every once in a while that sounds like it is coming from under the valve cover. Of course this never happens when i take it to the dealer...

 

i had a similar problem and when i cleaned my MAF sensor it fixed it. just a suggestion

 

The ticking is likely the timing chain tensioner, seems to be a common enough issue with these cars.

Spencer is likely right on the maf sensor - cleaning it could sort it out.
Could also be a fuel issue, or ignition, would expect those to throw a code right away though.

 

Same thing happened to me. I changed my MAF sensor & it was fine afterwards.
