2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS
5 Speed
5992 miles on it

Ya so i went out this morning to get a drink at a gas station and i turned my car off to go inside. I came back out side and started the car like i always have (Clutch in, key in, turn the ignition on) and it fired right up. I came home and pulled in the driveway and i go to turn off the ignition and it wont turn... hmmm so i shifted it into reverse and back up and little ways and pulled back into my parking spot and still it wont turn off.

I tried almost everything and after about 10min of my car running i decided to take it up to my local dealer (classic chevrolet) and they cant tell me whats wrong with it, so they ended up unplugging the battery to turn it off. Their keeping it over the weekend until monday.

Anyone had this problem before?

hope that the ECU isnt screwed up since they unplugged the battery to turn it off. It wouldn't be getting sufficient voltage

on older cars you can start the car with a battery and remove it, not really any electronics. many of todays vehicles require proper voltage at the ECU. removing the battery cable can cause a voltage spike and damage the computer. it also put a hell of a lot of work on your alternator. they should have just disconnected the harness for the coils

Could be as simple as something in the key cylinder jamming and not allowing it to turn back.

Not sure but hopefully we will see on Monday, the guys said he had never seen anything like that before in a manual car. What a hell of a day for shit to go bad. Happy Halloween! (2008 Cobalt 4 door for rental)
