Door chime quit working, then works again after many weeks

I have an '07 G5, and the door/low fuel/general alert chime quit working.. then it started again the other day before I got a chance to register and post on here.. but I still want to know what exactly caused it to stop working. I thought it was a fuse so I swapped out the stereo fuse with another one, and that didn't change anything.
Is there another box that could be lose that makes the chime / door ding noise? I'd like to do what I need to do to prevent it from stopping on me again.

As an aside, I'd like to purchase some take-off wheels for my car is possible, where would I post in this forum for something like that? And do you know how much it would cost (estimate) to have cruise control added to my car? It's a manual with no cruise and I drive enough everyday and most weekends that I'm not handling having no cruise like I thought I would. My girlfriend lives in Chicago and that's a 3 1/2 hr drive I do about every other weekend..

Thanks!!

I was thinking maybe it was the switch at the front of the door but if the interior lights still come on before you remove the key and open the door then not.

All the alerts like low fuel, trunk open ect show up on the front display.. but the chime for all that stuff doesn't work.

I mean, it didn't work. It does work again now, but just waiting for it to quit again unless someone has an idea what could cause such a thing. I thought it was a fuse, but everywhere I read suggested it was the radio fuse and it wasn't that.

well 2007's chimes are operated through the left front speaker. when it stops working, turn on the radio and make sure that speaker is working

Ok, it quit working again.. so I tested the front left speaker and it's not working. So it might just be the connection of the speaker? My next best step would be to check the connection of the speaker at one place or another?

Yes check connections and test speaker. To test the speaker take two wires and a nine volt battery and connect the two wires and connect them to the speaker terminals and then to the nine volt and it should sound like static from a bad radio connection.

GM messed up somewhere with a connection. I'm going to have someone look at it when I get the chance. I dont trust myself pulling door panels off, I'll break all the snaps.
