Just an FYI for everyone.

I saw that. And this guy has a point:

I'm still puzzled by these regional recalls. I can understand the concern within warm-weather states, but wasn't the defective part installed into all of the vehicles rolling off the assembly line?

What happens if I buy my car in Ohio and then move to Arizona? Do I get a recall notice or do I just walk out one morning to find a charred heap where my Cobalt used to be parked?

This makes no fucking sense, either parts are defective or they aren't, it shouldn't matter how hot or cold it is in a particular region.

Our winters are harder on a vehicle than hot temperatures in the southern states ever will be; if there's a failure I'd expect it up here as the parts contact and expand all god damned winter. Maybe they're assuming the snow will put out the fire before it has a chance to ignite?

I agree

What you guys don't seem to realize is that the cause of the failure is a plastic piece. Plastic performs remarkably well in colder temperatures (as long as it doesn't get so cold it gets brittle), but in extremely hot temperatures, plastics creep and generate stress cracks, and creeps and cracks are bad mmmmkay?

LOL when was this released?

I had my fuel pump replaced several months ago on the "extended factory warranty" after 36K. I wasn't leaking fuel, but I had bad gas smell...

I wanna say I replaced my fuel pump in August or September. Either way...late on the game gm.

There was a stock red sedan which was leaking gas the exact same day too...:thumbsdow

I went to the gm dealer, and they said the recall dont go in affect till the begining of next year. I am pretty sure my car is one that should be fixed ( recalled) It is a californioa car. So i am hoping so i dont have to replace it lol..

Also, what does it matter where the car is registered or sold?
Is the fuel line going to not leak simply becuase the car isn't
registered in a paticular state?

Fuel lines dont think for themselfs 'Oh, Im registered in Alabama now, so I won't leak'

That's bull****

You're right, its either bad or not. I think GM is trying to save money by minimising the
ammount of recalls they have to fix.
Anyone remember that scene in fight club where he meets Tylar for the first time?

Oh so now it wont leak/catch fire until 2010?
So now fuel systems are thinking about the date before they malfunction?

Maybe BECAUSE IN STATES LIKE CALI EMISSIONS ARE DIFFERENT SO THER FORE EMISSION LINES, MAYBE FUEL LINES AND THE WAY STUFF IS MOUNTED MAY BE DIFFERENT. i KNOW MY SUPRA WAS DIFF. i AM NOT REALLY SURE THOUGH JSUT A (THOUGHT) LOL.

That's possible yes, however whats to say a car in cali sold new, stays in cali? or gets to a dealer auction in Nevada, sold to some one who later moves to Wisconsin, then trades it to some one in Missouri? The car would still have the same california setup.

If there is a manufacturing diffrence in the cars then the recall should be based on
VIN rather then registered owner's location.

Alot of military members register thier cars in their home states even when thousands of miles away.

LOL sorry bro. I am at work and im not supposed to be online 24/7 but hey. I love the forums lol.. But i totally understand about the recall, i went to chevy and asked if my car was gonna be recalled. They basically said if the car was sold n cali, yadda yadda yadda it will be reaclled. I dunno, stupid, but hey i get a free fuel pump out of it hopefully. lol

take it easy...

oh yeah, i bought my ss in cali, because ive lived there my whole life and moved to ga* kentucky,. But my car since it was from cali, had egr, anda whole lot of emmisions, and when i blew my first motor, i got a head off a car from here, and they were different because there were porsts that werent blocked off. so i was just thinking it could be that.
