View Full Version : CAt-less DP & Warranty? grr86 11-04-2009, 02:12 PM I am running my car Cat-less like many other SS/TC owners, I want to know if removing the cats VOIDS the warranty? Anyone know:confused: D4u2s0t 11-04-2009, 02:12 PM yes... on the cat /thread grr86 11-04-2009, 02:17 PM So just on the cat? if thats the case then I don't really care, but If removing the cat will cost my NEW car warranty to be void then I might keep a stock DP around for service visits. sandeale 11-04-2009, 02:20 PM That's your best bet unless you have a hook-up down at the dealership, anything aftermarket and they want to void your warranty, mine was almost voided because of poly motor mounts. souchak2112 11-04-2009, 02:27 PM yea it will, but just on the cat. Basically evrything that you put on the car will void some type of warrenty, but try to do stuff that you can put back on in case u run into problems. Sweetsandman 11-04-2009, 03:31 PM Yes. They CAN void some part of your warranty if they find that whatever broke was caused by your aftermarket part. If you're honestly worried about your warranty...then don't mod your car...otherwise be prepared to fix whatever it is that may break. How many of these stupid "will this ________ void my warranty?" threads are we going to see? You gotta pay to play kiddies...just keep that phrase in mind. TrevMo 11-04-2009, 03:44 PM I would say if you are truly concerned with your warranty, think about what it could do and what problems it could cause. For instance, I really want to keep my warranty. I really feel that I don't want to mess with any after market parts that deal with sensors or somehow will affect readings going to the ECU (down pipe, cold side piping, intake, etc). However, I got the Injen hot side piping because there is nothing that could break as a result of this. It is just changing out a plastic pipe for a metal pipe...I would challenge anyone to prove that this would cause some type of failure... Boosted_Cobalt09 11-04-2009, 05:50 PM your best bet it to get in good with a gm tech that will ignore the fact you have stuff done to you car like i did. realisticallly though they can only void the warrenty IF the aftermarket part caused the break on the car. they have to proveit aswell. i brough my car into the dealer with a tune, rims and tires, exhaust and lowering springs and needed the breaks serviced. i had no problems with it at all. got all the breaks serviced. realistically if i blow a strut and bring the car into the dealer with the h and r springs on there then yes they can void the warrenty due to the fact the aftermarket springs caused the strut to blow. purplehaze03 11-04-2009, 06:47 PM took mine to the dealership, with intake and cat-less down pipe, and muffler delete they didnt say anything and did the warranty work ..........i guess it depends on the dealership 07MetallicSC 11-05-2009, 12:21 AM same here, catless downpipe, intake, full exhaust, tune, 60s etc etc etc they fixed some sensor on my car and didnt say nething about nething else, including the full suspension and everything else, just mentioned i had bald tires lol Boosted_Cobalt09 11-05-2009, 01:47 PM yeah generally they cannot void a warrenty unless the prove the aftermarket part caused the break. i think the only thing that will void a powertrain warrenty no if ands or buts is a tune. but even then they need to find the tune in your ecu. if they void any type of warrenty without proof of the aftermarket part causing it then i would fight the cause. because theres a federal law about this ruling. tom.g 11-05-2009, 03:28 PM If they ever deny a waranty claim due to an aftermarket modification ask them to prove and explain in detail how that aftermarket modification could of caused failure of the part to be warrantied. Atleast that's what I was told. Catless DP may void your warranty on an O2 sensor and obviously the cat itself but nothing else IMO |
