What is the widest tire that can fit on a stock Cobalt 16" rim? Stock tire size is 205/55R16.
I need new black steel rims (have to be same size as stock for SCCA compliance), and want to get some Falken Azenis to wrap them.

I just wanted to know the widest size that will fit the stock size rim.
I would also appreciate it if anyone can give me a link to a steel wheel 16" dia. 4 on 100 lug pattern.
I have been looking for a while and cannot find anything.

figure out what you want....
is it the biggest tire or to staying within SCCA regs.....
try www.tires.com or www.tirerack.com and see what they say for tires

You are allowed to get any tire that fits a rim as long as the rim size does not change.
I decided just to go with a 15" rim and move up to the STS (Street Touring Street Tire) class.
STS can go to 7.5" wide and the tires can be up to 225 and the 2.2 Cobalt runs in H Stock.
STS is going to be tough A4's, TT's, Beetle turbos, Golf turbos run there.
wider tires for the 16" rim = 225/50-16 (all I could find)

id suggest the pirelli pzero corsa size 215/45/17 because its the only tire of that line to have a treadwear of 140, all other sizes are rated at 60. for best results you need to have it shaved to 4/10 for competition. and a light set of 17" rims would help compensate for the larger rotating mass.
