View Full Version : Stage 2 kits
Agent248 05-09-2006, 10:24 PM Hey everyone, i'm looking at this forum for a long time, but first time posting here :)
I have a question about Stage 2 kits. If any of you got one installed, I want to know were did you take it ? My dealers selling it for 1265$CAN and i'm wondering if I should buy it from the US. Some ppl selling them for like 600$US (which is like 670$CAN right now). And how much time does it take to install it on the car normally. Thanks for the info !
By the way, you can answer in french if you want, cause french my main language :)
firesting 06-08-2006, 04:41 PM Where in canada are you? im from montreal and just got a ss-sc and am looking for stage 2. which dealer you call? let me know!!
SSpartan 06-08-2006, 06:12 PM i paid 550 but my dad works for GM.
he and i installed ourselves took 4 hours with lunch a few beers(which caused minor mistakes) and an hour spent at sears screwing around looking for washers for the pulley puller i borrowed.
all in all it would take you max 3 hours and is really easy. you need a puller and a decent set of tools.
definately a do it yourself kinda project.
check out woodward chevy in michigan. or pres kool cheverolet in michigan.
good luck canucks!
Spite4U 06-10-2006, 10:22 AM I have ordered from the USA (crate engine depot) and I'm 99% sure that I'll have Parkway Pontiac install the kit for me. There's a guy there nicknamed "Short Tony," he sounds like a decent guy. They have a speed shop at this dealer and are familiar with the install. I'd suggest giving him a call and seeing for yourself. I was quoted 3-4 hours at garage rates.
Good luck!
chevytech329 06-10-2006, 10:51 AM The actual stage 2 kit installation can be done in less than 2 hours yourself.
A good pulley puller is a must (I used a ZZP)
But
Needs to be reprogrammed (reflashed) at the dealership.
It will start and run fine without programming but needs to have the new calibration
to really get the power out of the kit.

:ca: prices are a rip off - don't even bother - you're paying double plus GST/PST on top of that. Order from www.crateenginedepot.com and ask for Tom :twothumbs Bonne chance mon ami!!!
J_Rod 06-10-2006, 12:55 PM buy intense. GM kits suck balls
SSpartan 06-10-2006, 01:13 PM whatever?!
hows your warranty with that intense kit smart guy?
my warranty is still kicking!
J_Rod 06-10-2006, 01:15 PM Its awesome I work for a chevy dealer dumb guy! Plus my buddy here bought the stage two and I walked away from him so now he has converted to intense.
SSpartan 06-10-2006, 01:19 PM im sure you walked away you have a smaller pulley!
and im glad that you work at a dealership not everybody has that luxury.
the GM kit was my choice. this thread was not a GM vs intense discussion. it was about installation and price.
J_Rod 06-10-2006, 01:39 PM Just trying to keep the poor guy from making a mistake.
P.S. He had the intense pulley and I still beat him
Not trying to be a dick just help out with factual input
2006ArrivalBlueSS 06-10-2006, 02:36 PM For people who are not techs (unlike you), the GM kit is better suited. Since you know your way around an engine bay, the Intense kit makes sense. You can troubleshoot better than us guys who don't know shit. I prefer the Intense kits myself but if anything ever went wrong, who am I going to complain to - GM?? Yeah right
J_Rod 06-10-2006, 02:37 PM This is true.
BLKblurr06 06-10-2006, 02:50 PM im going with intense-racing pcm and pulley I live in columbus, ohio not far from where their shop is! I actually just found our like 10 minutes ago that I live so close to such a great company. best part is installation is FREE!

they are not that cheap, go to paceparts.com and type in stage kits part numbers, stage 2 is listed for $598 plus like $12 for shipping.
Paradox 06-10-2006, 02:58 PM I called my dealer last week to check on the status of my order for the Stage II kit and they told me that GM can't even give them a delivery date due to the huge back log of orders.

RickZ28 06-20-2006, 08:05 PM Je veut acheter un GM Stage 2, qui en a acheter un? quel est le meilleur concessionaire pour le faire installer dans la région de Québec ou qui d'autre peut l'installer comme il faut ??
vacobaltss 06-20-2006, 08:31 PM i installed mine myself at work during my lunch break and just did the reflash while i was cleanin up to go home (takes about 10-15 minutes). its a pretty straight forward install if you know your way around an engine. nothing too complicated. just make sure you got a decent puller and installer for the pulley. the kit comes with ok directions on what to do and has pictures. as for whether or not you can get a dealer to warranty it still with you installing it yourself is another story. i suppose its all up to the dealer.
