my first time in my LS sport coupe, I loved it
the body roll isnt bad at all, i was never scared at all, i felt very safe
i ended up getting 5th in the novice class out of around 60 people

i beat my buddy who's been autocrossing for a few years, although to his credit, he doesnt have a lot of wheel time in the cobalt

i cant wait to do it again!!

*sigh* no autocross is not when you race in a circle, it is a course setup usually in large parking lots, with lots of turns, not in a circle, and you only run by yourself. it is timed and the fastest time in each class wins

If anyone is looking to atuo-X in their area... I would suggest checking out the SCCA site and checking with your local region's clubs. They have alot of it and depending on where you are, there might be one almost every weekend.

We have them here by the SCCA and a local sports car club here and there and there's been quite a few going on.

Once you do it once, you"ll be hooked. I know I was. I'm running in a stock class right now and can't wait for the next one.

Sometimes an underpowered car with a good suspension can do better times than a higher Hp car

well yea... but do you honestly think an LS is going to outrun an ss/sc or even an ss for that matter, with even close to equal drivers

Some of the autoXs' i have been on you might have 2secs before you come into another curve or three,so sometimes givith the coarse there is not enough time to build up speed.

If you'll be back in Woodmere, you can check out one at Nassau Coliseum on Saturday 6/3 being held by the NY chapter of the BMW Car Club of America. Also the New York Region SCCA runs at Nassau Coliseum.

yea, check out the SCCA website, they have a bunch of different regions

i have an LS sport, and the sport suspension handles really good

surprisingly enough, i was having traction problems out of the corner, one time i smoked em in 2nd gear coming out of a corner

my friends tell me 'Go slow to go fast'...

cant wait for next time

Nope he said 5th in the novice class not overall. And standings are PAX'd to make up for power differences.

Curse Subarus and their damn all wheel drive. Although I've put up a good fight against some of them before...I just need to work on being a little more smooth and learning my car a little bit better.

I've tried to explain that to people SOOOOOO many times. It's why I just can't get into drag racing. There's no fun in it for me. It's primarily machine vs. machine with a little driver input as far as reaction time and shifting. You go to an auto-x and it's 90% driver 10% machine. It's a rush to beat cars that your car is never supposed to beat. I can go out and beat on cars that I wouldn't stand a shot in hell against at a drag strip. Just wait till an event where it rains and then go beat up on the rear wheel drive ringer Mustangs and Camaros. I was 2 seconds off fastest time of the day at the last auto-x for the first 2 heats because of rain, but once the track dried and the RWD cars could get traction that opened up to 8 seconds off FTD.

Maybe if you knew how to explain it better more people would listen to you or if you knew more about drag racing you wouldn't be posting any of this anyways.
