Short Shifter People.. Are they worth it?

Im looking to get a short shifter, either B&M TWM or hurst. Do they really make a noticeable difference? looking to get the 1/4 times down, will this help? Thanks for the info. Which shifter is everyone the happiest with?

Ive got the B&M in my car......shifter feels so much better than the stock one. Although when its either really cold or really hot the knob is the same, other than that obvious fact it's a great pickup.

i have the b@m and its about 30% shorter of a throw, but the main thing i was pleased about was how smooth it goes into gear, was worth it for me.

I agree. I have the B&M, and it's so smooth, that I can care less about how short the throw is sometimes.

When changing the stock shifter, what effects does it have on the reverse lock. Are most aftermarket shift knobs acceptable of the reverse lock? Does the redverse lock become obselete after a short throw shifter is installed?

With B&M, you still have the reverse lock. It operates the same.

Love the B&M. Definately helped with the 2-3 shift. I shortened mine even more because it fits my driving style better. I know I still need to make a how-to on it, but I've been ripping my hair out tryiong to figure out how to get rid of this tranny squeal I have.

I had a B&M installed on my 1995 Nissan 200SX SE-R which i still have to drive around (since i cant afford my cobalt ss s/c yet). I love it, the only draw back is the all metal design, gets really hot when left in the sun or really cold in the winter. but other than that the shift throw was reduced dramatically, my friends try to drive my car and put it in gear and try to keep shoving the shifter forward as if it was going to go further into gear..lol

B&M is the only shifter actually available for the 2.0 right now. The TWM is just for the 2.2 and 2.4, but they are developing one for the 2.0, it's just not out yet. Hurst is only making one for the 2.0, but it's not out yet either.

I can shift pretty good. Fast and hard with regular clutch use and the stock shifter. Would a short throw really make that much of a difference?

I have the twm shifter in my car and its really a good improvement over the stock one,the stock plastic shifter tend to bend when power shifting and now theres no bending issues.also tne new on is more accurate on gears and the 38% shortened travel is really great.

I have had other cars and I find the 2.4's shifter sweet, but that may be only because I drive rig all day where it's a split shift double clutch,

How does the B&M affect the placement within the gates? IE, when you are in 4th gear is it in the same position as nuetral is with the stock setup?
