Exhausts.... Whats the deal?

So let me get a few things striaght....

GMPP Exhaust fits ALL Models....

Someone on here said that the pacesetter exhaust fit their 2.0L although its 'designed' for the 2.2 and 2.4

So here's my real question....

What exactly sets apart the exhaust systems on the different models? What are the differences between the magnaflow for the 2.0 and the 2.2/4 etc?

I was looking at this on Magnaflow's site last night. Their catback for the 2.0L S/C is a 2.5" pipe diamter, but their catback for the 2.2/2.4L is a 2.25" pipe diameter. That's retarded for us because we share the same stock exhaust as the 2.0L S/C which is already 2.5" pipe for most of the ride. Downgrading to a full 2.25" catback will actually cause us to flow less than what we already have.

Seems like a lot of vendors don't understand where the 2.4L sits in the grand scheme of things and we really need to look after ourselves.

Edit - My bad, Magnaflow now suggests that the Cobalt SS and SS Sedan take 16619 which is the 2.5" system. Thought I had heard of people phoning them and being told to order the 2.25" system before. A number of third party sites do tend to lump us together with the 2.2L though. In some cases that works, in others it doesn't.

so does that mean that the only difference is piping sizes?

With 2.4L owners going either way and a 2.0L pwner using a 2.2L Pacesetter catback, that sounds about right.

It's 2.5" from the cat back to the the rear wheels, where it reduces to 2.25" to accomadate some bends and the stock muffler. Replacing the stock resonator and muffler and that axleback section with some new stainless steel 2.5" piping would be way cheaper and just as effective as buying a full catback.

the stock SS exhaust has 2.5 inches until about the rear axel. its approximately the last 12 inches or so., sorry i decided not to pay a rediculous amount of money for a system to only yeild 3-7 HP. i just went ahead and installed a magnaflow muffler. i just wanted a deeper more aggressive sound
Link to My Magnaflow
Link 2 high RPM's Driveby
Link 3 and you can still hear the SC whine good
Link 4-Driveby then accelerate
