THis weekend's Pittsburgh area AutoCross Extravaganza

OK....

This weekend we all know that the AutoX is coming....

Here's a couple things I was thinking, so feel free to post your arguments, opinions, ideas, and all that crap.

1) Assuming the weather stays on track as it stands.... we SHOULD be good to go... SO, All of you in the Irwin / Greensburg area.... DO you want to meet up and caravan? A few of us did last time and it went well. We had breakfast, BS'd and then went up.

I was thinking that any of us from that area should meet in IRWIN if for no other reason, that the Turnpike is RIGHT there, and it's a quicker drive then going thru Wilkinsburg and up RT 8. I know it took me 30 minutes to get from the parking lot of the pool to my house.

If anyone disagrees or wants to meet somewhere else, I'm fine with it, but since no one has said anything yet, I'm throwing it out there.

2) Providing we DO meet, if we do breakfast again, do we want to meet maybe 10-15 minutes earlier?? That way we get there in plenty of time to walk the course, get the cars thru tech, and all that jazz.

3) All of you that are in the surrounding areas... Pleasant Hills, Monroeville, etc... maybe post here and let others know that you're going, and maybe arrange a meeting place.

OK...

I got the ball rolling so let me know what you think. I feel that if we get a good # of people coming.. both running in the AutoX and just supporters / spectators, we could have a SWEET turnout. PLUS we could get to know each other a bit better since some of the meets have been a bit fragmented with small bursts.

So all you newbies, old-schoolers and the rest of the gang, chime in and get some friends with balts and ions to rise to the cuase.

Sorry for the epic tale of a bored man and his mission...

Oh, and every "couple" must bring a cute single female friend for me.... j/k!!!

one of these days... that line will work!

I wont be able to make your early meet to run up together. I have church in the morning @ 9 so i wont be able to leave at the earliest till 10:30. As long as it doesnt rain save me a parking spot near everyone else spectating.

Honestly, I'd recommend parking in that lot across from the auto-x course. There's like a gravel type area right across the road, I'd really recommend parking there if you're not running, and particularly if you're getting there after the event starts, as the lot right outside of the course is typically a paddock/staging area.

Bring chairs and sunscreen!!!!!!!!

I do not know where I'll be driving from this time, probably my house since I'll need to leave the dog somewhere for the day but maybe not. We'll see.

Do they still open up the grassy area on the outside of the road that goes around the park for event parking?

Sunburst....

I agree with ALley on that one. If you're coming that late, I'd suggest creating or joining other Cobalts in the extra parking.

Had I known there was other parking, I would've moved my car there last time so not to crowd the area.

Alicia, as I stated, it was more a suggestion since I hadn't heard anything from anyone yet. If it works out for the majority, we can meet where ever. I'm easy....

Sunburst, if you want, you can always call one of us to see what things are like up there just in case there's different weather there than here.

OH, and if anyone wants, I have a cooler to bring, and an extra bag chair...

sunscreen?? why use that when I can get a nice good burrrrrnnnn....

after about 6 or 7 good burns, I'm good for the season and will get a tan....lol

Yes, they have that area to the right of the road open for parking. Hopefully, the grass and gravel won't be too wet / muddy so everyone stays dry and clean.

OK, I"m sure one of us can do that.

For me it's going to depend on dog status. I really don't want to bring her since I'm running and I don't like having distractions. Yeah, dorkish I know, but I want to do well.

If I'm not bringing her, she needs to stay at my place which would mean an extra stop if I was coming from Dave's. Hence why I say I'd most likely leave from here if I'm going sans dog.

What about EVERYONE meeting up somewhere near the park a little before registation starts (say 8-ish) and we find someplace to eat near NP???? That way we could all meet up for breakfast? (And begin the **** talking a little early???)

Man, If you're coming from Harmarville..... then it makes NO sense to come all the way back here.

I agree with Alleycat... Maybe we can have small factions meet and have a BIG meet off the butler exit of the pike. I'm sure there are food places there... Denny's, E&P, Kings... something... even McyDEes....

The weather on Channel 2 last night sounded favorable for dry weather most of the day. Talking about a chance of rain late in the day Sunday.

I'll be there around 8:30 to 8:45, providing it's not pouring.

And remember, all you w/ them nice ol' Eatons strapped to your engine, we should ALL run in STX this time Let's not let them Rexs scare us...

Ok.... I'm getting pretty confused here about the "classes" and what runs in what.

Since my car is 100% stoock down to the tires ( for now ), Alicia was mentioning something about D-Stock.....

Some ran in STS, some in STX last time. I know most of the WRX's ran in SM from what I could tell.

Maybe I should look on NHSCC and see if they have class regs there.

If you are 100% stock then you will be in D-stock (don't quote me on that), I've been told since I have a smaller pulley now, i'll be in SM......that silver STI is going down....lol, yeah right

It's nice to hear that a meet can happen at an autocross. I just have a small request from the east coast: Lots of photos & videos please!

As far as classing goes, if I can be of assistance, feel free to ask. Basically the SS/SC (G85 or not) and the Ion Redline start off in D-Stock. In the stock classes you are allowed a couple of modifications that include shocks (as long as they retain the stock mounting points), wheels that are the same size as stock, DOT approved R compound tires, a replacement air filter such as a K&N, any ignition parts as well as high octane "approved for highway use" fuel. Hope this helps.

Yeah, It's nice that we can klill 2 birds with a single car here.

The guy/gals that I've met so far are all really fun to be around and no one has an attitude, so I am very pleased with it.

Thanks for the info on classes. I will be stock at least until the fall it looks like. Next season, I will start adding shtuff. By then the car is going to be WAY over the miles on the warranty....

Going to start stockpiling parts this summer.

Hey Alicia, and Dan... NHSCC has some good action shots of your cars on their site. I dl'd them and will send you them in a PM when I get time.

Oops. I'm in STX because of the K&N CAI.

My fault. Hadn't had my coffee yet.

Also, I'm still planning on showing up tomorrow, long as the weather holds. If not, I'll still show. We can find somewhere inside to go

OK...

So let's start getting a roll call for Sunday...

Also, please note whether you are participating, or spectating.

Anyone know a good place to meet in off the Butler TP exit for breakfast? I'm trying to think of what is there, and since I don't go that way often, I don't know.

Have fun at the meet tonight everyone!
