have you taken the shift knob off? It seems like you have to take off the shift knob (pop off top and undo screw) then there are 2 tabs under the spring push them in and the shifter should come apart. Or it will just pull off the bottom. Either way I know I had to disasemble the whole thing to get the parts I needed.

um?... i wasnt paying atention when i took it apart, then my dad just riped it off the bottom side and stretched it a lil, then i filed off the reverse lock out off. cuz 5th gear was realy hard to get in, but fine now. and i dont have to worry about the reverse lock out.

but has any one pintched themselves between the *** and the reverse lock out lever? i have 4 fingers that have deep slices on them due to this. (2 during install and 2 during the test drive/beat the hell out of the car)

You didn't have to file it down, all you had to do is adjust the driver side cable and it'll go in just fine.

it was one of the oem pare that you have to keep, the part that you have to left up on the reverse lock out to to get over. i no longer have to lift it up to go to reverse, i did this because i hade to lift up on it to get into 5th gear as well
