Thinking about a CAI!! read this

Stay tuned.

I will be turning the CAI world upside down with my modded air box.

I am going to develop a kit that is totally bolt on.
It will give you more power than a Aftermarket CAI.
You will be able to simply protect the car too with ease in rain or for winter.
it wont destroy the box you will be able to put it back to stock.
it can be done with paper element or for better peformance a K&N drop in filter.

If you were thinking after market CAI. wait a month.

Coming soon for the end of June I will have a product or a how to do for you.

There could be a cai, that is already out similair to what your trying to do, its called the xtc cai, bolt-on, uses stock air-box, and can be converted to shortram, your idea sounds good though.

XTC get more HP than any other after market CAI? my idea will. You can protect your vehicle from rain with out taking off the wheel too. you will able to pop the hood pull on cable and you will be running as protected as stock. pull the other cable and you have more power than after market CAI.

Right!! that is why I have given the idea of what the goody is going to taste like (what it will do for you) but not letting anyone see it yet. LOL

Of course I have to test it first and then we shall prototype it, production, and then copyirght..... that will take to dam long. lol if someone can actually copy it for cheaper than me all the power to them but it will be cheaper to buy it from me. Or I may just tell you how to do it. depends on how it goes and extravigant it is.

I bet what your envisioning is very close.

i bet it is "very" close. i like your thinking. however, i cannot verify my inperpretation..... gl man. i would certainly like to see a new idea such as this.

from my perspective, this is going to take a lot more planning and manufacturing than u would think, but it would certainly work.

the XTC intake actually is dyno proven to get at least a 10 hp gain where as most other intakes are anywhere from 5-8 hp from what i have read.

We dyno tested my car and the dyno sheets are included on our webpage as well as dyno sheets from some of the other intakes.

I expect disbelievers and doubters. My idea is not that new. just new to the cobalt and with an add twist to open and close it. It will provide as much HP as XTC and would expect it to do a little more. Just for a daily driver it get people excited and want it. in fact as I am tyoing this I have come up with another idea for the design.

Cant wait to work on it. LOL

If you cant wait until the end of june then I suggest that you buy the K&N drop in filter and take out the baffle. My kit will enhance this set up nicely!

I read through the description on your website. Are there ANY CEL's reported with the XTC set-up. Also is the filter cylinder or cone based? Oil or dry?

snipes I am interested in your set-up as well.

Keep us posted.

well after looking at a XTC system I now know that I am on the right track and I can produce more horsepower than this system. but here is the good news. my kit will enhance the XTC kit. and it has the potential to do double the horsepower gains! yep doubt me if you want. when I am done most people will shake there heads as to how simple it was. You will be happier badg1rl.

well considering badg1rl is directly associated with Cobalt Addiction, dont be too sure of yourself.

im going to suggest u cut urself off until u have a preliminary dyno, or have started some serious work on this idea (as in manual work). im watching this thread aswell, despite my serious doubts

You never know. perhaps Cobalt Addiction will exclusive distributing rights.

I am done talking about for sure. And I said I have an I idea that may turn the CAI world upside down. Now I will get to work. design it. dyno it. then get production up and running. then a distributor.

I am not the least bit annoyed or bothered cause somebody doubts it. If it is a dud I will show everyone what doesnt work too. how about that!

Get appropriate documentation on your idea so that it STAYS your idea.

Good luck! It sounds very promising.

If your serious about a patent for this thing, you should consider this:

1) Document your design with notes regarding uniqueness. Make sure to add every possible unique feature to your list of CLAIMS.

2) Have a witness sign and date the documentation. This will be considered PRIOR ART if a patent infringment issue arrises. Patents are granted on the basis of PRIOR ART rather than FIRST-TO-MARKET (as it used to be). So make sure you get this part right!

3) Do not discuss your idea with ANYONE, except your witnesses. A patent could be rejected based soley on your failure to protect your idea until you file. Course, you may have blown this one already.

4) Before going through the trouble (and cost) of filing, do your own patent search on: http://www.uspto.gov/ebc/index.html

5) Expect to pay approx. $10k (patent Lawyer and filing fees). Also, it takes about 3 years to have a patent approved after it's been filed. Be patient.

Even if your not going to patent this, don't skip steps 1 and 2. This will keep you out of infringment trouble if someone later patents a similar design and trys to sue you. Remeber you just have to show PRIOR ART.

Good luck, and get to work!

Yeah I take your advice seriously. 1 and 2 to be done for sure. Not enough time to patent after building to put out there. not sure that I am worried about someone copying it. I may just tell people how to do it. I dont think I have told too much. you could tell me how it was to be designed or the premise of getting more HP or even how it will produce more power and enhance XTC. IF you have figured it all out then oh well but I doubt it. Now lets see if I can come up with something that shows promise by the end of June.

You could certainly make a few "bucks" building and selling your idea. May as well spend the money on more mods rather than a patent.

Good luck with this. Sounds exciting!
