SS vs. STi vs EVO vs. Ralliart (WHICH TO CHOOSE?)

Ok here is the thing the Cobalt is gone I can't say anything more than that. But I now have a choice I get to make my decision in about 6 months but either way I have the money for one of these 4 cars. Which one do you think I should buy?

SS/SC=~290WHP stage 4 from Intense, HPT, Exhaust, Intake, and weaponR header

STi= Black-Stock

The Color I Want

Evo9=Grey-Stock

Ralliart=Stock BUT must(Wait to see if it is released)

Well if you have 35-40k budget, I would say don't waste your time with a Cobalt, unless you want to mod up your car and do crazy **** to it. A nice Cobalt Coupe SS/SC is like 22,000 without taxes and everything and an MR EVO is like 36,000 without taxes and everything. So that's a difference of 14k which you could make a sick nasty cobalt if you put that much into it.

But it all depends what you want it for. I don't know anything about the Ralliar, so I'll just ignore it.
Get the EVO if you want performance, eventhough it's barely better than the STi but the STi does have a way nicer interior and is cheaper. If your on a low budget or want to mod up your car a lot or want good gas milage, then go with the Cobalt.

If I could afford the car and the gas, I would personally go STi.
But for a car that's not to exuberant, yet still pretty decent, get the cobalt. Plus it's new and you have a ton fo choices. I haven't seen too many mods for Stis or EVOs but maybe I haven't looked hard enough.

Dude have you ever driven an EVO. Those things are beasts!! Not the greatest daily driver. That thing is a job to drive. Just my two cents.

That's a pretty broad price range. If you really can afford an EVO or STi AND the upkeep AND the maintenance, then by all means go for it. The STi is probably a little easier to live with and drive daily, but if you can afford the cream of the sport compact crop, then, by all means, go for it.

EDIT: The '06 STi's are kinda fugly, and I saw that Ralliart Eclipse at the Dallas Auto Show. I don't see even a third of the stuff on that car actually making it into production (like the carbon fiber roof and front end...). Besides, I think it would cramp EVO sales.

Evo!
My brother has one and its SICK! If you want to wait for something that isnt in production wait for the Evo X. Other then that get either the Evo 9 (first choice) or the Evo 8. The STI's are nice, but they dont tune as well as an Evo. Plus the AWD is SICK. He blasts around in the winter with his snows on like its not snowing. And he smokes most people cuz he is @ 400hp

If it were me I'd get an STi, I just like 'em better...anyhow

The posts stating Evo's "tune" better then STi's is 100% false, both cars are very tunable and respond very well to mods, neither of them are maxed out by any means. In every head to head report I've ever read on both of these cars, they pretty much come up even. Sometimes the Evo wins by a point or 2, sometimes the STi does.

AWD is pretty sick, and we get plenty of snow up here, in 5 years after my loans are paid down my plans are to be buying a new STi, but I'm in Canada so right now an Evo isn't even an option because of our stupid crash test rules. Even if it was, I'd probably still end up in an STi.

If you got the money for an Evo, why not get a GTO? They are fairly close enough in price i think that the little extra wouldnt make a huge differance.

Just my .02

Good luck either way!

id get the evo 9. love my 4g63's, the ralliart isnt coming to production any time soon (if at all), and while i like the STI, i like the evo better. something about that old, dsm, 4g63, awd, mitsubishi thing that i cant shake outta my head

and sadly, as much as i love my car, it isnt in the same league as those cars

daily driver get the sti
spirited driver get the evo

the price range as stated previously is too broad. The ralliart is probably the most expensive car but isn't in production.

Yea, that Ralliart Eclispe isnt going into productoin yet, you could get the Ralliart Lancer, but with the Evo as an option, I wouldnt do it. Go with the Evo, you will be happy.

Well, a hooked up Cobalt ss/sc is more rare than an EVO. It comes down to what you want out of the car. If you want lots of HP go with an Evo. If you want more looks, go with the Cobalt ss/sc. Do you want 4 doors or 2? Many factors come into play. Good luck.

the EVO 9 is one sick car, but the 05 STI is one of the most aggressive cars I've ever seen. My friend has the 05 with a bunch of goodies, and the exhuast note from the STI's you will never get with the EVO. Both are very close to eachother though. The seats in the EVO 9 are non adjustable too, that's a little something to think about, but they are Recaro's. A built SS would be nice too and you would save money in the insurance department. IMO buy a used 05 STI with mods and you'll still have some extra for goodies.

people please stop voting on teh ralliart. it is MOST LIKELY never going into production (was only a concept car--granted with production parts), and if it does... at least 2 years away. its taking good votes away from the evo (basically the same thing)..

Keep In Mind- Evo Brake(sp)job 900$ For Factory Brakes Plus Labor
Rotors On The Evo U Can Only Turn Once Before You Have To Replace Them.
Plus Parts Are Expensive As Hell And Most Dealerships Won't Warranty The Cars Unless They Are Bone Stock.

Lancer Eclipse Will Never Be Made Mitsu Can't Really Afford It.

If Ur Going To Get A Ralliart Get The Lancer Ralliart Sun And Sound Package For Under 22,000 Mvec Engine. Sti Don't Really Know Too Much Bout Em Xcept Most Of Owners Are ****.

I'd Go With The Lancer Ralliart 4 Door Sedan.
