Drag radials that fit the 18's?

Idk, I'm thinking of either trying to find drag radials that fit the rims that are on my cobalt right now, which are the stock 18's, but the problem is, is that all of the drag radials I've seen that fit 18's are made for rims that are 8 inches wide. Stock cobalt 18's are 7 inches wide...

So I'm looking at either downgrading to a smaller wheel or getting 18's that are 8 inches wide which will help with traction. I'm not sure, just wondering what all of your opinions are. Thanks.

grab a set of 16s if they'll clear the brakes. That way you'll get better traction from the DRs becuase of sidewall flex.

I've seen a set of Toyo Proxes RA-1's that fit the stock wheel, 225/40-18 to be exact. I'm thinking of getting a set. They are super sticky and street legal.

I would go down to a set of 16s. More sidewall for flex and a lot more options for tires.

I'd bet they are 7". I was looking at running the BFGs and I found some cheap 16x7s.

well i have a set of 16x7.5's, but i checked on line and 255/50 drag radials have a minimum rim width requirement of 8 inches, so i'm curious if his are 7.5" or 8"

Check out www.1010tire.com and the tire size calculator.

This says they can be run on 7-9 inch rims

yup 255/50/16 have enough side wall to fit a 7" rim.

He said he wants to know what 18s to use or if he should go to a smaller rim. Shell out the <$200 for two 16" rims and run something with a sidewall. Putting a drag radial on an 18" rim seems stupid to me. Not enough sidewall.

The larger sidewall will help with the wheel hop issue. If you want to stick to 18's Gravana has some 18 x 8 and 18 x 7.5 wheels that look decent and are fairly light.
