Here is the official annoucement of the Chicago area June 24th Cobalt meet. Sign up now! This meet will be in the Aurora/Naperville area near the Fox Valley Mall. I have been trying to get The Home Depot to give us specific permission to use the parking lot of the former Expo Design Center on Route 59. They have however been dragging their heels horribly.

Should they fail to come through, the meet will still happen in my back-up location of the forest preserve just south of there.

Bill Hahn plans to attend, bringing with him at least his Sunfire project car (http://www.hahnracecraft.com/auto/Cavalier/HRCEcotec.htm). With any luck, he'll have the Twin-charged Cobalt SS or the JIN tuner transformation car with him as well. I will also be inviting all of the Chicago area CobaltSS.net supporting vendors (there are quite a lot of them actually) so you can meet you are buying from. I hope to have CobaltSS.net window stickers to hand out too (still waiting on those).

However, I did just hear back from Home Depot they have leased the old Expo building, so I was not allowed to use the lot.

I'm gonna try to find another lot that will give us permission to park with being called "loitering" before I fall back on the park.

By the way, I failed to mention the meet time. Since it's summer now with longer daylight, I thought 5pm would be good. It gives people with jobs more time to get off their shifts and still make the meet.

I'm not at home right now. I'm in New York working. I'll have a chance this weekend to head out to the area and scout out a spot for us, then I'll post it up. But the date and time are solid.

Jonel (our wonderful site administrator) has ordered up the decals for us. Those will be free-bees on me. I'll have to talk to Vision bulbs a little later to see what he's willing to do for us.

Im not solid on going, as everytime I have seen to go, something has come up. So I would like to go :), Time will tell as it gets closer. At this point I have absolutely nothing to do.

The guy I was dealing with from Home Depot called me 7am this morning (damn time zones) and said it was OK to use the lot I showed in the very first post. So that's the place.

It's the corner of Route 59 and Liberty street in Aurora. The address of the Boston Market restaurant right next door is 966 North Route 59, Aurora IL., 60504.

Awesome sounds good! and totally off topic i was browsing your pics Halfcent and i saw one with a garage full of toys. I noticed a fighter jet in one of the pics how in the world did you get that lol? and man thats also a lot of cars in there.

Those pics where taken with my crappy cell phone camera at Fort Lauderdale Executive airport. The place we park the plane is call the "Aero Toy Store". The guy is a car collector and sponsors either formula one or indy car teams, I'm not sure which. We fly into his place about once a month.

The DuPage forest preserve office has been notified of our intent to use the parking lot. I have spoken with the park ranger. He is aware that we will probably roll in there around 6pm. Nobody has the pavilion booked that day, so it's just the dog walkers that will be out.

I heard back from Bill Hahn today after notifying him of our time and place, here's the reply...

so i found out the fenders from cobalt addiction where complete crap and now im out the money for the fenders and money for having the installation and prepping of them started to find out that there are cracks, and bubbles left and right under the gelcoat, also the edges of the fender werent even fiberglass, there was so much gelcoat in the mold that about half the fender is gelcoat, idk whats happeneing if i can go atleast ill have mny own car but no fenders.... i hope badg1rl helps me out on getting my money back

shhhhhhhh but dont we all on JDF? lol no its bnecause i got an F'ed up filter and thought it was supposed to be like that and then a month later my cone kept falling off because my filter was fucked and then i realed it wasnt supposed to be like that for obveous reasons, so i ordered a dragon filter to put onto my secret weapon pipe.... the combo should be sweet plus then other cobalt owners will see the dragon filter and be lik ehow the hell did u do tht

Guys, I just found out that I can't go to my own meet!

One of the other pilots on staff at work just got fired. He was scheduled to do a trip tomorrow, right during our meet. I have been called up to fill in for him despite having requested the day off. I'm so sorry, and really annoyed that I can't even go to my own thing.

I will try to arrange with one of you to stay in charge of things. This sucks. Here are the parking lot and forest preserve locations for you guys...

I think we should skip the forest preserve and go up to 4 corners because I was up there tonight and there was a HUGE turnout. Prob the biggest this season with atleast 200 cars tonight! So that will be atleast where I plan on going plus we are meetin with a bunch of people so whoever else is interested we would roll out about 8 or 9... So make a list of who is interested in coming to corners

Its straight but I wasnt trying to hijack this thread. I was just suggesting an idea instead of going to a park with mainly cobalts why not go to a huge lot with many mixed cars. But I will bring it up at the meet tonight when I get there!

it was my first meet, and it was pretty fun, only about 10 cars though, i was hoping to meet you, maybe next time.

some dinner, 3 SS/SC's and about 6 or 7 other cobalts. And some of us stuck around for a while at 4 corners, the rest went home about 9/10. There weren't alot of cars at 4 corners when I left (10ish) but I guess it was early. I would definately consider going to 4 corners on another sat night but meeting up about 9 or 10.... might be alittle late for some but might be fun too.

Oh ya so me and the dudes I drove with decided it would be pretty awsome to have a meet like that but do a little cruise around the 59 circle around the mall or something, Just think it would be awsome to see like 15 cobalts all driving together, dunno how well it would work with stoplights but I think it would b cool if we got it to work somehow. i got a great i dea for a next meet starved rock state park. you think your car handles you have no idea how much it doesn't handle till you go out here just imagine that really tight turning course on initial D and you might have an idea. thats were i went after i left four corners. its just really far its about 1 hour and 20 min from me so i can just imagine for far it would be for some of you guys

starved rock is a cool place and good for a meet, i dont mind the driving really and i think it would be cool to have a little highway road trip to a meeting spot, i like the driving part 200 times better then standing around and looking at cars. just how i feel though, it would be cool to meet up somewhere around orland or something and all cruise down there together that would be a lot of fun i would think, and probably a lot of tickets
