View Full Version : INTENSE offers 400HP Cobalt SS Axles!
Rogue 06-07-2006, 05:58 PM Rated at 400HP, the Driveshaft Shop Level 2 axles (http://www.intense-racing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=LSJ-DSS-L2CA&Category_Code=LSJ_Transaxle) are for the fast street car that goes for fast food by night and hits the track on the weekend. These full chromoly axles were designed with fast forced induction street cars in mind (not for all motor cars). These direct bolt in axles are fully assembled with the Driveshaft Shop's torsional center bars, special inner c.v.'s with oversized tripods, a higher durometer boot and their c.v. designed to handle hard launches. If your looking for a set of axles that will handle everyday driving and be able to handle the track when you want, this is it.

Bad GTP 06-08-2006, 12:17 PM any idea what the stock ones are rated to? i know that someone was snapping axles with DR's and the stage 4/5 kit from you guyz
We're not sure the exact rating for the stock axles, but we do know that they're WEAK. Our manufacturer told us 'they're the weakest axles he's ever seen'.:(
Rob broke one of his stock axles the very first time he tried to launch above 3,000 RPM at the track. I think he only made it about two feet...

sneaky 06-08-2006, 12:21 PM Do you guys install the axels at intense if they were purchased? If so how much?
CobaltBurst 06-08-2006, 12:32 PM yet another thing to add to my list to order now :D, id rather not wait until they break to replace them, they probably could damage other things in the process of breaking.......
Highhp 06-08-2006, 06:50 PM If you come to our shop and purchase the axles, Install is free;)
Highhp 09-28-2006, 10:52 AM Did I mention install is free on axles?
bigworm 10-07-2006, 05:31 AM why exactly would these not be useable on a n/a car?
and could they be used on a 2.4?
Rodimus_Prime 10-09-2006, 06:09 PM Free install and your in OH wow, i love this!!!!
BlackyK 10-10-2006, 10:03 AM I think this summer I'll be spending about a week out with Intense lol :twothumbs
NoRemorse 10-10-2006, 10:10 AM why exactly would these not be useable on a n/a car?

Not entirely sure on fitment, but either way, the 2.4 in N/A form probably does not put out enough power to break the stock axels, so the upgrade would be kind of pointless.
the SS/SC's only break them when they are nearing the 300whp mark (270+) and only then because they have a large amount of low end tourque that snaps them, something an N/A motor would not need to worry about.
07BlackCobalt-LS 10-17-2006, 02:48 PM Thats so very very very wrong. There were 2 NA Cobalts here in Dallas area last month who snapped axles with teh 2.2 LS motor. The stock axles are snapping because of the unfortunate wheel hop these poorly designed suspensions allow during a launch. The stock axles will fail under torque of 140+ if the car is wheel hopping at the same time.

If your sig is your current mod list,,, I'd start buying some wheel/hop mods ASAP. Or you'll be needing these sooner than you think. I would do the CAB's and Trans Mounts as soon as you can. Wheel hop owns us
R33P3R007 10-26-2006, 01:12 PM nah.. the track pwns him.. he needs more practice.
