Exclamation HELP-Spark Plug Question

I ordered some NGK BKR7E the other day, and went in to pick them up. Well, pretty much every spark plug I've seen has had one electrod, well, these have 2. I gave someone a call and he said post it up here to check.

Ya, post a picture. I ordered mine from Detroit Speed Shop where the old Ramchargers used to be in Livonia. Very helpful people.

Are you asking if the BRK7E's only have one electrode? If so yes there is only one.

The pics from what is show or what can be seen are fine..or am I missing something?

he called me and once we started talkin he said they had 2 electrodes(sp?)

thats what made me wonder if the NGK's had 1 or 2 because my autolite plugs are 1 range colder and they only have 1

and hey said they were the BKR-7e so thats why i wanted him to ask because i'm wondering if its the rite plug or not.

any ideas people?

Send them back and buy some NGK coppers. Two prong plugs are useless. You'll see a bigger gain by indexing the plugs.

Plugs with two electrodes dont get gapped, I used to have platinum +4 in my grand am, but they burned too cold for the engine, so I had to replace them with stock single electrode ones.

I dont see a need for any more than one electrode, since electricity will take the shortest route. Therefore it will only take one electrode at a time.

2 electrode plugs are the wrong ones.

This is very true.

Here is a link to NGK's site. Substitute a 7 where the 6 is for each plug to go one step colder.

$10 a plug? I'll stick to replacing copper core plugs every 40k or so for $8 a set.

I got my plugs cheaper elsewhere; yes R4YS is the p/n. Seeing that I only have to buy 4 plugs and they won't be getting changed like oil I can spend the extra $$$$ to get the most from the resistorless, silver plugs.

All the Nology, Splitfire etc etc plugs are worthless. A gimmic to get ricer kids who don't know any better to spend $10 on a spark plug. Stick with a regular NGK or Autolite of the proper heat range and you'll see the best success.

Also, the plug you're speaking of doesn't have two electrodes, it has two ground straps. The electrode is in the middle. Its not going to hurt anything to run them, but its not going to help performance either.

We are all privy to believe what we want. I've had my classes and I know my metals and which are the best conductors and how resistors work. Why you gonna say an Autolite or NGK, why not the $0.89 plugs if none of it makes a dern difference?? While you are at it, be sure to find some 86 octane for your car too!!

Thats fine, and I have the same experience, but I also have real world experience. I've worked on drag race cars for a while now at a semi-pro level and we've always run a regular autolite of the proper heat range. The funny thing is, a few years ago Jim Yates (NHRA Pro Stocker) was sponsored by Splitfire -- but guess what spark plugs went in the motor?? They weren't Splitfires!!

Don't you think if those Nology, Splitfire, whatever $10 plugs were worth any HP(even just 1), professional race teams would use them?? I got news for you, they don't.

Silver is a slightly better conductor then Copper, but that's no proof that using a silver plug that has slightly less resistance for the 2.5" worth of plug makes more horsepower in an engine.

I bet you like those Nology "hotwires" with the capacitors in them too??
