Hey Guys, i'm some what new to the site. My brother and I are both getting Cobalts. I'll be getting an SS S/C, and he will be getting an LS Coupe. He should be getting manual, but we were bother wondering about the Trans. As Far as i know, the SS has a Saab Trans. We were bother wondering what you guys would think about getting him an SS trans, and putting into his LS. Q: Would it be much diff with the 2.2 and not the 2.0?? Q: Is it worth it? Any Info would be great. Thankz :cssNET:

I don't know man. But I would say if he has the coin to do that he should just buy an SS/SC it would probably be cheaper. :-D

I wish we could both Drive SS S/C. I'm 20 yrs old, and I'll be buying mine. He just turned 17, and our dad will be pretty much buying his. I've been telling him about this car for so long now, both our heads are just about ready to pop with the things we wanna do to the Balts. We were more or less just thinking in terms of learning the limits of how far we could go. Our Dad dosn't want him to have stick, and I told him if he didn't get a manual, he wouldn't be able to do as much stuff, or go as fast. So we were just kickin around some ideas...

A manual doesnt make a car any faster, especially since it will be his first manual. And all the 'power' mods are done to the engine, not tranny, i'd take a auto w/shift kit over a manual. I agree with the previous post, if you have the coin to do a swap, it will cost less for the SS/SC. just my opinion.

If he has the money to find the limits of his Ecotec,
I'm sure has has the money to pay for a tran swap.
Although given that much cash, I would pay up the
difference to get the SS to start from there instead.

No, its not that he has the $$$, we were just wondering if it was possible.... Like some where down the line, a Cobalt SS driver (God forbid) Crash's there car, and the trans is ok.I have a friend in a junk yard that gives me pretty much any thing I want for pretty much nothing. and I used to work at a chevy dealer, so I have a few guys that could prob help me out in a good swap 2. Not like any of this will prob go down the way we want, we were just wondering if it would work... :cssNET:

it probably is possible. but not anything worth doing. only thing that makes the ss fast is it's supercharger. hehe. supercharge the ls and itll be the same. :)

its possible, youll need the trans, its mounts, the flywheel, a clutch the shifter tower, the shifter assembly and shifter cables...also if you start with an auto trans car youll need to get the computer reprogrammed....

I can see why he'd want to do the swap, but do you really wanna void the powertrain warranty on a brand new car?
