^^That would be nice.
Anyone know if they're going to accomodate side curtains?
Or are we just SOL with them? I'd hate to see what happens when they go off inside a pillar with nowhere to go, lol

Are they going to come in 2 and 3 pods and does anyone know if they will be recessed like the stock pillar.

You can call autometer directly, thats how I got my part numbers and the info. Didn't ask about color though. They are very friendly call em up. Thanks.

I don't think I've ever seen a recessed autometer pillar, they will probably look just like all the other ones. But if you get a little creative and are good with molding, you can cut out the pods, and reversed them in the pillar to give it that recessed look. I'm sure it's way more work then it's worth though.

they come in 2 and 3 pods.

There's a thread somewhere about this. The air bags are above the doors, not in the actual pillar. People have already taken them out to inspect and made some fiberglass pods. There's also a picture of a wrecked cobalt, and the interior shot show the pillar only moved 1/2 inch at the very top just to let the airbag deploy. I see it being safe.

Yeah I saw that when you posted the link. I've never pulled mine apart, but assumed the bags came through the circular covers at the top of the A and C pillars. SO you're saying they don't come through those holes, but rather between the headliner and pillar?

I mean these pods are a total replacement pillar aren't they?

just found these real fast. It doesn't seem to be an issue at all. Those holes are just covers for the pillar screw, and just say Airbag on them to let you know it's equipped with that feature. I haven't tried it yet so I can't gaurentee it, but you might want to PM the members posting the how to in the threads I listed. didn't say whether they had side airbags or not. But i'm %95 sure it's no problem.

I already know the prices and part numbers. I was asking Aaron if he could get them yet. The part number has been released for over a month now but that doesn't help anything if they aren't available yet.

I know they are available, don't know if it's available through TTR yet though. I went to my local PAW and they have it for about $50-$60 bucks.

well already hooking up the 5v lead to the aux input on the interceptor so dont need that ;)

Tru, but I personally wouldn't trust it for anything past a 2.8" pulley

I'd rather pay a little more for true wideband and peace of mind

Especially for those running HP tuners. Interceptor to watch KR and IAT2 temps, wideband for the fuel ratios and we really don't even need dynos anymore

why not? You can connect any wideband sensor to the aux and get the readouts there, all the autometer gauge does is read out what the sensors are telling it ;)

same read outs using the same 5v sensor :)

I do like the autometer but If I can save some trouble and extra expense ;)

I don't think I've ever seen a wideband sensor for sale without the gage though. I wonder how much of that price tag is the gage

My question is, how does the pillar look? Is the molding around the pods decent? Also, on Ptuning's website, they state that Autometer pillars slip over the existing factory pillar. How would this work with our already existing gauge? I'm assuming this Autometer isn't a slip-over?

The two pods are now added on www.TurboTechRacing.com

We were able to mark them less than what we stated above!

Dual is $59.68
Tripple is $62.19

These will ship from Autometer, expect it to take about 3-5 business days to ship. They are making these to order and that is why it takes time to ship.

Anyone interested in gauges by autometer or AEM. PM us your request we will email you back prices and availablility. Just send us the part number from autometer and a item description.

Here is a link to the two pods:

Awesome. have you seen these yet Aaron? I am wondering, are they just pods that stick onto the stock pillar or are they a full pillar replacement? Also are we still going to be able to make use of the stock guage pod?

TurboTechRacing
07-15-2006, 03:52 AM
For the price, we are assuming it is a full pillar replacement. We have yet to see one, as it takes around 4 weeks to get on a stock order for us. This is why we are having Autometer ship one to our customers as it takes about a week. Being this you would not use the stock one, you should be able to use the stock gauge in the new pod.

We are currently working on adding the entire line of autometer gauges. If you want to know the price of a gauge email us. You can figure a good 10% below summitracing.com and free shipping if the order of gauges is over $200.

When the gauges are listed on www.TurboTechRacing.com you can take 10% off most of the gauges, being a cobaltss.net member...

Email us and we can get you a exact price.

Aaron, quick question, Just ordered a pod last night as I've had one back ordered from PTuning for 2 weeks, but they said it could be a while before they would be able to get me one, so I cancelled my order. Am I still looking at the one week time frame for shipping, or has that changed? I ordered an AEM UEGO off ya which is getting delivered today and my Interceptor is on my dining room table, so I guess you could say I'm chomping at the bit to get the pod.
