sunfirejoe 07-01-2006, 02:24 PM well last bnight i went to the track, and yah horrible things happened 1st forgot my helmet than they had no helmets so i borrowed a helmet

will; get pics up on monday
06' SS2SS 07-01-2006, 02:30 PM shitay! sorry to here that man.
WSFrazier 07-01-2006, 02:36 PM Been hearing this a lot lately. Kinda makes me not wanna go to the track.
sunfirejoe 07-01-2006, 02:56 PM yah its very dissapointing to be pushed form the the track off to parking lot :(
Yup, sounds like a driveshaft blew. Sorry to hear that.
Jekyl 07-02-2006, 01:42 PM Sounds like you broke it in the same spot as me.
When you look at the shaft. You will notice that the diameter of the shafts swedges down a little bit near the cv boot, and that is where it breaks.
Anyways, were you on streets tires? I made 30 passes on street tires with no problems. It was when i put on slicks and launched at 3k rpm when i snapped mine. With street tires, you wanna just slip the clutch when you take off. i am guessing you must have dumped the clutch as soon as the light went green. The shock of the one warm wheel catching traction and dumping the clutch is what broke the axle.
Sorry to hear man. I still havent fixed my car yet because I got sent back out to work.
victory_red_SS 07-02-2006, 01:47 PM Thats sucks sunfirejoe and if I hadn't already sent my shafts off to another poor Canadain I would have let you use them till you could get the 400hp set which will solve the problem for 95% of the Cobalt racers.
JonyyB 07-02-2006, 02:43 PM Do they have stronger aftermarket replacement parts yet? I don’t want to brake anything lol
WSFrazier 07-02-2006, 03:09 PM Intense sells stronger driveshafts.
victory_red_SS 07-02-2006, 04:18 PM The Intense ones are made by the DriveShaft Shop and are rated for 400hp. The driveshaft is currently trying to make some even stronger ones (at 600hp) but there are a few issues and hurdles they need to deal with but they are confident that they will soon.
JMAc88 07-02-2006, 06:12 PM You Calgary guys like to break stuff:nono:
Sorry to hear that Joe. Your car has been trough alot, but think of it this way, when ever you get it fixed you put better parts in it so eventually you car should be unbreakable
northernSS 07-03-2006, 04:11 PM Tough luck, I was watching from the side when you broke. I am not surprised though, when you guys do your burn-out it looks extremely hard on the suspension. I'm the guy with the silver TBSS, been lurking here for a while... figured I'd chime in now. HI!
sunfirejoe 07-03-2006, 06:01 PM i have suspension mods, i got forced into that fucking burn out box i was ready to kill , what a fucking piss off
sunfirejoe 07-04-2006, 10:37 PM lol southgate in edmonton is a fucking joke, they said we thikn maybe your clutch was the problem to as of why your car is not working, we thinking maybe its burnt out, :than why did i not smell my clutch, why is it everytime ive burnt a clutch out i could still drive it, and also why is there CV grease all over on the passenger side of my car, and why does my CV boot look s shaped,"
from there they sorta said well we started it up and it had a loopy idle i laughed "did the guy rev it above 3000 and than cuz the rpms didnt die down right away he thought the rpm was loopy remember this is supercharged," fromt there i was passed to the service manager
Yah to his understanding the shop foreman did not realize it was supercharged, but he thinks its a bad clutch,
Really than tell me why it didnt burn out, or making a squealing noise,
well maybe you are right about the clutch not being bad, btu we also think if your cv joint let loose than maybe it was the clutches fault, from there i said, fix it, or there will be consequences lol
point of this
I HATE GM DEALERS IM TEMPTED TO FUCKING FIX IT MY SELF, ITS A 250 PART, SO TEHY CAN FUCK THEM SELVES, IM HEADED UP TONIGHT, AND IM STOPPING BY IM GONNA SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF THEM, MAN THEYVE NEVER HAD AN ANGRY FRENCH PORTUGUESEMAN AT THEIR SHOP, LOL, MAYBE ILL GET IT TOWED TO NICHOLSON
denny 07-04-2006, 10:46 PM I HATE GM DEALERS IM TEMPTED TO FUCKING FIX IT MY SELF, ITS A 250 PART, SO TEHY CAN FUCK THEM SELVES, IM HEADED UP TONIGHT, AND IM STOPPING BY IM GONNA SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF THEM, MAN THEYVE NEVER HAD AN ANGRY FRENCH PORTUGUESEMAN AT THEIR SHOP, LOL, MAYBE ILL GET IT TOWED TO NICHOLSON

Good luck
sunfirejoe 07-04-2006, 11:05 PM lol yep little do they knwo im in edmonton tomorowo :D
firestorm 07-04-2006, 11:37 PM mine is in at westgate til tomorrow afternoon, for alignment, blockheater, iol change since its there, and so they can tell me the suspension doesnt make a clunking noise, im makeing it up, and if there was a noise my HR springs void the warranty. we shall see. springs went in sat afternoon.
get your car fixed yet jekyl?
JMAc88 07-05-2006, 04:21 AM Joe, goto Nickelson, thats who i have do all my work. Talk to Trent, hes a nice guy and fairly intelegent when it comes to GM service techs.
SoloSK71 07-05-2006, 11:37 PM Don't even bother with westgate or for that matter any of the others.
Choose one of the race shops in Edmonton, either Competition or Ron Hodgson. Most of the other dealers either a) know nothing about supercharged cobalts or b) are of the "mods void your warranty" mentality.

sunfirejoe 07-06-2006, 10:51 AM yah it was susposed to be towed to nicholson but for some odd reason it wasnt :S
05YELLOWSS 07-06-2006, 11:03 AM Well at least we know the week point on the car is not the engine or transmission itself...cuz that would be really bad for all of us....looks like we could all do some preventative maintenence and get at least the intense driveshafts...pretty much a 1 time buy, better than the hassle of in and out of the shop with warranty axles or any other weak stuff, pretty much the do it once, do it right mentality that I have anyway. I mean it works at my job so it would only make sense.
gearhed 07-06-2006, 11:09 AM Dude, i feel your PAIN!! Last saturday night, the same thing happened to me. Snapped cleanly in two. Makes you want to put on your own high performance shafts on but i dont want to shell out the bucks to do so when it can be covered under warranty. I think i am going to buy some ingalls to help that out. Sorry dude. It might be helpful to check out my post. It is under drivetrain "so about those driveshafts!"
Jekyl 07-06-2006, 12:48 PM get your car fixed yet jekyl?
No its still sitting on jackstands. I have the parts. (big thanks to Rod), but I have been out of town working and havent had a chance to fix it yet.
Hey sunfire, that dealer sounds like a bunch of idiots. Tell them to feel the cv boot and you can feel the two pieces of rod where its snapped lmao. How can they think its the clutch?
sunfirejoe 07-06-2006, 03:32 PM lol yah and now no more warranty lol, ohh well, someone from castrol was in saying hey that was the cobalt at the track ohh well, time for me to shell out some cash im just gonna replace with stock and just take it easy until winter ill find someone who wants a used axle lol, now i just need a place in edmonton thats cheaper than 100 bucks an hour and will only charge 2 hours lol
patathSS 07-06-2006, 03:37 PM Do them yourself. It would be really cheap then.
YellowLT 07-06-2006, 03:59 PM mine is in at westgate til tomorrow afternoon, for alignment, blockheater, iol change since its there, and so they can tell me the suspension doesnt make a clunking noise, im makeing it up, and if there was a noise my HR springs void the warranty. we shall see. springs went in sat afternoon.
Is your suspension noise kinda random when doing slow turns? thats what mine was and it turned out to be the sterring shaft
sunfirejoe 07-06-2006, 07:15 PM yha iv been comtemlpating but renting a flatbed is plus ags is the same rice as the 2 hours o labor lol. deaer uoted me 600 or the axel i picked up or 268 with taxes lol from gm auto parts, parts direct didnt have any

Zoomyjs 07-17-2006, 06:49 AM well just FYI Lakewood Chev is the biggest Chev dealership here in Edmonton. but i dont get it!! unless you have mods. because i have over 7k on her already and i learned how to drive manual on the dam thing lol. i yes it was rough those first 2 months but i havnt any probs cept for my dash rattlling which.. is.. because of those 2 12'' kicker subs.. but anyways, i driver her everyday and EVERYTIME i drive it i drive like a bat outta hell. im serious whenever im in that car i drive just like im at the track. i practice shifting with WOT and drive around in 2nd gear for hours and boost to redline every 20 seconds. maybe i've just had good luck SO far(hoping it will stay that way) but actually i do have 1 other minor prob, its whenever theres a weight shift like 1st to 2nd or gunnin it in 2nd its that click comin from around the tire area on the back right. havnt brought her in yet cause i love it so much i dont even wanna go a day without it but, i will soon. dam i love my car. its late and i've been drinkin lates...
