Well, I finally got my arm rest in the mail for the Cobalt today. Installed it and have only one slight issue - the passenger seat rubs the arm rest ever so slightly. Is there any way to adjust the seat or the actual arm rest so that it doesn't rub? I'd hate to wear down the leather on the seat by moving the arm rest. Here's some pics...

The arm rest does that on all of the cars, unfortunately.

But it looks good!

So does it effect your shifting at all as I want one so bad for more storage but I'm in fear of shifting issues:)

coming from a 2.4L with the armrest standard, it does not get in the way at all.

I agree with Johny....never had any problems shifting.

try unbolting the passenger seat and moving it a bit for clearance.

Yeah it does ^^... I hate not having an armrest though. Specially when im taking left hand turns to fast and have to hold on to the e-brake so I told fall to much to my right.... Anyone else do that???

It's like 75 bucks, you should be able to call the parts department at your local dealership and get the part #. Takes an hour or two to install.

It does a little bit but it's better than not having an armrest.

I think its about time I purchase one. My arm needs to rest!

It doesn't get in the way of shifting at all that I've noticed. I haven't done any real aggressive driving since I installed it though. It's actually pretty great if you're just driving around casually...I just rest my arm on the arm rest while I'm shifting, lol.

The part number I used was #17800082...from GMPartsDirect.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/). It's the ebony (charcoal) color, which I'm pretty sure is the only interior color option (besides color inserts) for the SS/SC. It comes with all mounting hardware (brackets, screws, etc.). Paid a little under $90 with shipping.

And honestly, the only time I really notice that it's in the way a little bit is when I release the e-brake. You kinda have to move your arm in an awkward position to squeeze the e-brake button and release it. But it's not bad at all. Something I can easily get used to.

First thing I did to my car...oh yah I'm the one who made the how to thread...I honestly dont see why GM didnt put them in the car.
