Rsx?!? Hahaha

alright so this race def. made me glad i bought my cobalt over an RSX Type S. Why? You may ask, well because i beat this new one........... in my dad's bone stock 2004 Grand Prix GTP, with a passenger. Yes sad, but true. I still like the RSX and they def. have potential, but stock RSX's just went down a notch in my book...

Considering that was a 280HP Grand Prix...when there are now 305HP Grand Prix, 240HP G6s, 220 HP Cobalts, and 260HP Solstii...

The RSX is in need of an update...oh wait they killed it off didn't they?

ok but who takes home the win slip? are you forgetting this is a 4 door family sedan, it has 80,000 miles on it. It was a Type S by the way, he might have even been running exhaust.

not 280hp, maybe 250 at the most, and it is most likely not putting out those numbers with 80,000 miles on it. but i would love to drive one of the new GXP 305 HP grand prixs.

so you base all type S's on that ONE? gtp's are no joke may i add. dude in the rsx could have had a bad launch, maybe he didn't. no doubt that the gtp beat him but to judge them on that peformance alone is weak. what was your time btw?

i dont judge them all by that, seriously, i was more disappointed than anything by the way it ran. but seeing as how he ran almost the exact same time every time he ran...

and i know the GTP is no joke... for a 4 door family sedan that weighs over 3800 pounds with a driver and a passenger, might have even had a cooler of um... "bevarages" in the back.

this was in 95 degree weather with prolly 85% humidity

here is how the slip looks:

GTP-
reaction-.6976
60 ft.- 2.2853
330 ft.- 6.4495
1/8 e/t- 9.9601
1/8 MPH- 70.53
1000 e/t- 12.7561
1000 MPH- 81.46

RSX-
reaction- .7966
60 ft.- 2.4944
330 ft.- 6.6859
1/8 e/t- 10.0949
1/8 MPH- 73.29
1000 e/t- 12.7916
1000 MPH- 84.25

uh the grand prix had it in the 1000 as well, you see both cars let off at the 1000' it would have caught it but both cars prolly would have run a high 15 second quarter

a 1/4 mile is not 1000 feet. look how close the two times are at 1000 feet. in the 1/4 mile the rsx would beat it.

OK GUYS LETS LOOK AT THIS THREAD!!!

when did i say the grand prix would win a quarter mile race? never

who won this race? Grand prix

is it 100% sure that either of the cars would have won the raceif it were 320 more feet? no

why in the hell are you guys so upset about this. the point of the thread is that a 3500 pound 4 door family sedan with 80,000 miles and two people in it beat a 2 door "sports car" that is "supposed" to be great competition for the SS cobalt. thats it end of story!

the race is 1000 feet, its pretty damn simple, the first car to cross the finish line first without red lighting wins the damn race, is it that hard to comprehend?

that would be like me going up to pretty much anyone in our classes at this track and telling them they didnt really win because if it were a full quarter i would have caught them because i am catching them at the end of the 1000, thats ridiculous but exactly what you guys are arguing.

"If the race was a full quarter the RSX would have won"
"If the RSX had a better launch it would have won"

Here is an old saying for you guys that sums up your argument- "IF my aunt had ***** she would be my uncle." yeah no ****, there are a lot of if's and's and but's, it didnt happen in this race, get over it

you seem to be the one upset dude. if you want to compare 2 cars in a straight line race then compare them at 1/4 race, not half of that. that's like me saying, well i beat a/an (insert car here) at 100 ft. why have 1/8 tracks anyway? what a waste of space. an rsx is not a "sports car", it's a "compact sporty car" but no "sports car". no car under $25,000 is a "sports car". if you want to compare 2 cars on 1/8 of a mile race then so be it. in the real world we judge them on 1/4 mile races.

1000ft. is about 70% of a 1/4 mile.

Didn't the GTPs with the SC 3.8L put out 280? I thought they did....Either way...an interesting tid bit, GM's SC 3.8L used to make 280HP, now the SC 2.0L makes about 220HP...in under two decades they shaved off 1.8L, 2 cylinders, and only lost about 60HP.

To put it in perspective, thats like in 2010 they make a 5.2L V6 that puts out 430HP. (basing off the lS7) or a 4.2L V6 with 330...though that sounds less impressive these days since new V6s are getting pretty up there, already passing the 300HP bench mark in the entry level performance sedan market.

The '04 GTP's make 260 hp/280 tq. Sometimes I miss my '98 GTP, but my SS/SC no doubt would pull away hard, especially in the higher mph. By 90 mph it didn't feel like the GTP had much left. The fastest I ever had it was 115 mph, and it took forever to get there.

That sounds WAY too F&F to me. "I live my life 1 1/4 mile at a time". In my book, 1/4 mile dosn't mean anything either. The 1000ft is near a 1/4. Just because he said he beat a car, a car that has the same name as yours, dosn;t mean you have to act lik eyour personnaly offended, and stand up for all RSX's of the world. Just chill out.
