ok since i got no other place to really put this it will go here.

we all know i hate nitrous so I have found a different toy for a little added kick.

http://www.designengineering.com/

What you guys think about this idea?

i like it because i can use it on any car i feel like simple install and everything plus it has so many different ways to be used.
and the very best reason is i can get the tank filled when i go to fill the co2 tanks for paintball

Seems like an interesting idea...but, I was too lazy to do any real research. How does the system work? I mean, yeah..it may be a lot cheaper by the pound than n2o, but how effective? n2o is much denser than your average ambient oxygen mixture, and cools the engine as it burns. I'd be curious to see what kind of power gains and efficieny carbon-dioxide possess'.

Edit: Oh, and why do you hate Nitrous? :)

Ok, well, I went ahead and read over the site. Got tired of waiting for you. :D They claim the kit has the potential to cool intake air up to as much as 60% by using liquid Co2. Makes sense. They also have a way to route Co2 to your intercooler, "improving it up to 50%". Definitely an interesting alternative to water/methanol cooling.

In truth, there wasn't much information about this "new" setup/system. To me, it seems like a more expensive version of a water/methanol cooling setup. I didn't see any mention of direct port (wet kits)...looked only like dry to me. When I have some more time, I look into the real mechanics behind Co2 and horsepower. :thumb:

ooops forgot about this post

but any way i dont like nitrous cause too expensive and makes motors go boom when you have the itch to hold it for to long

but this i was looking at more as a cooling setup for a little later on when the car is boosted it will help out a great deal

Read my other reply to the second n2o post. :) Nitrous is a very reliable and cheap power adder when researched properly. I don't know what experiences you've had with it, but it doesn't sound like they were all too good. Heh.

i know the good side of it but id just rather not have that one more thing to worry about i could run nitrous and this system and may one day but i would rather build and see how far i can go without it.

and my bad experiances are more just in others cars since my friends and other people at the track seem to be blowing alot of shit up with it lately and the whole fast and the furious crazy killed its overall appeal

I was going to put one in but then I figured I might freeze the coolant in the intercooler, that would be bad.

my buddy has the DEI kit installed in his '95 Avenger w/ the 2.0L... the install was fairly easy, shit we installed it in the middle of the night in my driveway without proper tools...

asfar as hp gains or anything i think it was fairly mild... when i had just an intake on my Z24(its auto BTW) i was able to beat his car by atleast a car sometimes car and a half... after the cryo it was pretty much the same, maybe he was abit closer... it could just be his car tho, since its n/a i dunno if it really did all that much... his mods are intake, race header and full 2.5" dual exhaust, no cat and the cryo...

dunno if that really helps anyone... i would imagine for a car w/ a S/C or turbo it would def be worth the money...
