I just found out a few weeks ago that they recently made photoblocker plate covers illegal in Mecklenburg county... now that they've got the photo radar crap everywhere.
Good thing my car is registered in Lincolin county LOL.
I believe the type of cover doesn't matter. Also, they don't give warnings just like they don't give warnings for window tint. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
Look up what the law is in your state. I know here in michigan you're not allowed any type of cover.

You should be able to find some if not most of the laws where you live on line or you can go to the local cop shop and ask or you can go to a libraby as some have copys of the local law books.

thats exactally why plate covers are illegal. i dont see the big deal, why do you need a plate cover anyways? just wash it once a week with your car!

Also the DMV should have some booklets on the state laws. The local laws like county and city are going to have to be obtained from the library or municipal buildings.
same with texas... even license plate frames will get you a ticket. but they dont enforce it unless they really need to hit their quota. but in reality who are we kidding do you even need one??? no you got it so that hopefully if a cop was further back he couldnt read your plates and you could get away. and same thing if your state allows camera traps. in texas its not legal to give a ticket using a camera, yet.

Hey Silver, FYI, a buddy of mine is a cop in Kernersville. Told me that the way that the laws in this state are, they can ticket you for ANY non-OEM part on your car except for replacements for worn out parts. Usually they won't bother unless they are having a really bad day though. BTW, be nice if you do get pulled. They can write your infractions on one ticket, or as many as you have infractions, and if they do, its court cost for each ticket.
